Ebay item 12/5/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-Roadster-69-XKE-Gorgeous-Sleek-Sexy-Ul ...
Current bid $8,100 reserve not met, 4 bids, 5 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This 1969 Series II Jaguar XKE has been owned by me since the mid 80's, I bought it from a gentleman who had brought it to California from the East coast, not knowing that rust is a NONO in California. The car has been stripped to bear metal and all the panels that had any rust in them were changed. (pictures accompany the car) The car was put back together with new panels and was then brought to the late Ken McMurphy of AutoEuropa in Martinez California for bodywork and paint.(2 time winner of The Pepple Beach Concourse) Ken painted the car for me in 1991 using Dupont Cronar 2 stage paint. The car was then colorsanded flat and rubbed. It still looks great today. The front suspension pieces were beadblasted and then coated with cadmium.

I drove my pregnant wife to the hospital in this car on Sept 7 1993 at about 5 pm. My son was born the next day so the car is part of the family.

Over the years I have added or changed the following:

New stainless steel wire rims ** new shocks ** New triple DCOE Weber Carbs ** new stainles steel exhaust ** completely new braking system - Master Cylinder, slave, rotors, calipers, pads ** New tires ** new stayfast cloth top ** new windshield ** new interior ** new stereo ** new distributor. a new clutch and a rebuilt alternator. The fuel tank was sent out for treatment with a white coating on the inside that stops it from rusting- I don't remember what it was called. New fuel pump added. New rubber seals everywhere.

I have driven the car just a few times every year to keep it from "going away" on me, but I have only put on a couple of thousand miles since I bought the car. it now has 47500 miles on it. Being a low miles car it has always performed well and still does. It burns some oil, but the performance is strong.

All front suspension ball joints and all front suspension rubber was changed. The original radio comes with the car - The oil filter has been changed to the modern spin on type, but the original canister comes with the car. The car was originally silver with red interior, but I like burgundy with tan so I changed it. The front subframe, doors, front bonnet, deck lid were completely off the car, disassembled, bead blasted and sanded, primed, repainted and reassembled so the colorchange is complete.

The car gets a ton of comments when I take it out - it really looks great.

All the original pieces that I have replaced have been saved and comes with the car (carbs, manifold, wheels, steering wheel.)

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
