This 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 coupe shows 61,256 miles and was purchased 14 years ago from the original owners, who are personal friends of the seller. A lifetime Colorado example, the car has reportedly never required rust repair and received a single repaint in its factory color in 2000. The seller has added approximately 16k miles during his ownership, including multiple cross-country trips. Powered by a 4.2-liter twin cam straight-six paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox, the car has been regularly maintained as detailed below. This XKE is now being offered with its original sales invoice, some records from new through 2001, detailed service records dating back to 2002, and a clean Colorado title.

Outside, the repaint from 2000 looks to have been carried out to a nice standard, with good shine showing from all angles in photos. The seller notes that he has known this car from new and no rust repair has ever been performed. Recently, the suspension was given new bushings front and rear, four new shocks, and new ball joints. The brakes have been rebuilt and are said to be in good shape. Additionally, the rear hatch seal was replaced a little over one year ago.

Factory knock-off wire wheels present well overall, with the seller noting some peeling on one rim as shown in the photo gallery below. New redline tires were installed three years and 5k miles ago.

Inside, the seller states that everything has been left original aside from a possible replacement of the headliner as detailed in the photo gallery. The upholstery, carpeting, and factory trim appear nicely kept for their age, with one small seam separation on the rear seat present. The original Phillips AM FM radio remains functional, while the factory clock is currently inoperable.

The power steering rack was replaced within the last year, and a new power steering pump was fitted just prior to this auction. Air conditioning has been upgraded with a new evaporator fan, compressor, dryer, and condenser. The system is charged with 134a coolant and reportedly blows cold. The heater box and core were restored as well. The 61,256 indicated miles are believed correct based on documentation and known ownership from new.

The 4.2-liter straight-six is paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Recent servicing includes a new aluminum radiator and cooling fans, a new clutch and clutch master cylinder, a carburetor tune-up around six months ago, a new fuel pump two years ago, a GM alternator, and a new battery about six months ago. The oil has reportedly been changed regularly, and the seller has driven this Jaguar reliably from coast to coast.

Several undercarriage pictures have been provided that show a stainless steel exhaust system fitted roughly 12 years ago. The original sales invoice, some records from new until 2001, and detailed records displaying all repairs and upgrades since 2002 are included with the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
