Sellers comment:
1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Automatic. California car probably since new- one California owner since 1973. Stored for at least the last 10 years; last registered 1982. 99% original and unrestored.

Good body-virtually no rust. Great floors, trunk, and sills. Bonnet also very good. Some minor dents here and there- top/rear of bonnet (minor), and rear bumper dented/taillight broken. Hard to tell if it has ever been repainted- perhaps once at most. No obvious evidence of any previous body damage. The only other damage to report is a broken/missing left rear quarter window.

The engine was reportedly rebuilt before storage. Now drained of coolant and oil- it turns over freely by hand. The transmission is still full and the fluid is bright red. Original wire wheels and original style redline tires are still in place.

The interior is very original- seats need work. Interior panels are there, and as you’d expect on a 30+ year old car0- also need work. No carpets remaining. All gauges/switches intact- only the speedometer is missing (so actual mileage unknown). Windows wind up and down as they should.

The keys are missing, so it was not possible to test the electrics. If they are found before the auction end, I will post it here.

This would be a great car to restore as it is so rust free. Or I suppose it could also be used as a donor for another XKE restoration. Itr would be aboslutely super to use if you have a rsty 2+2 with runing mechanicals- just transfer them ionto this body. The car has a clean California title. VIN is 1R40889BW.

The car is located in San Jose, California (50 miles south of San Francisco).

I have tried my best to accurately represent the vehicle as it sits, but please remember that this is a used car. This car is sold “as-is, where-is”. Please ask all questions before bidding. The car is located in San Jose, California (50 miles south of San Francisco).

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
