Ebay item 6/25/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-jaguar-xke-2-2-4-2-litre-/320932882362
Opening bid $5,000, no reserve, no bids, 9 days left in auction. 29k miles.

Sellers description:
This car has orig engine, trans, drivetrain, matching numbers. I purchased it in 1992 for $6,800. It had not been on the road or running since 1979. It was stored under a home carport for twelve years. The mileage showed approx 29,000 miles, I believe this to to true do to the fact that there was little wear on the clutch and brake pedals and the upholstery was not badly worn but was dry rotted. I then began a three year restoration project which unfortunately after spending close to $20,000 and putting about 1,200 hours into it i ran out of both time and money. The car was then heavly wrapped and tarped then sat in my driveway for two years before being put in my garage for the next twelve. Unfortunately time has once again taken its toll on the car. I will try to give a brief description of work done on the car and then describe its prescent condition as accurately as possible. The engine, drivetrain and suspension where all gone over completely, all hydraulics rebuilt, all lines, hoses and clamps replaced. all gaskets, seals and any rubber or rusted nuts bolts and screws replaced. The body was stripped to bare metal, any old repairs were ground out and the metal reworked by a ford factory metal finisher. any rusted panels were replaced. Fiberglass filler was used as thin as possible. It was then acid etch primed, sanded, and primed again with k-200 primer. then finally painted with dupont eurethane enamel in an exact match to original. The interior was completely removed new dash pad, headliner, one of the last original factory carpet sets, and connolly leather upholstery complete were used. All rubber parts, window wipes, door panels inner and outer. underlayments ect. The only things not replaced were the wheels and tires. And the rear window and its trim. The window and trim are missing. Now let me describe the cars present condition. The car does not run, It has a new battery but no spark at the points. The engine turns over fine and has good compression across the board for a cold cranking test. The fuel is stale but not jellied, The carbs must be rebuilt and fuel tank and lines cleaned. The clutch and brake cylinders will need to be rebuilt and lines flushed. lines were all replaced before. I dont believe there to be any problems with the transmission, rear end or suspension. and the stainless exhaust is still good with mufflers. The body is rust free, BUT ! it does have puckering in the outer layers of paint on the hood and doors. However this should be repairable without stripping as it doesn't appear to have reached through the primer coats. There is a small 1" ding in the tip of the nose. and two paint chips one in the driver door, not to the metal. and on on the rear hatch opening. A front turn signal is cracked. and the bumpers are starting to show rust again. The interior of the car is mostly in new condition, but it has some press marks from boxes sitting on the seats. I am told they should come out with a steam wand and some conditioner. The seats, belts and many other small interior items need to be installed. The steering wheel needs restoration and a radio system installed in the housing. The car has its complete tool kit. I have all reciepts totaling approx $13,000 for parts and materials. A bill from the body shop for $2,500 and the reciept and title for the car at $6,800 which i paid twent years ago.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
