Ebay item 8/16/20

www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Jaguar-E-Type/293689170876

Current bid: $19,000 one bid, 6 days left in auction no reserve, seller rufrydermg, 54k miles.

Seller's description:

With just over 54K miles on the clock this Jaguar was part of a Jaguar enthusiasts collection & was in the process of undergoing a complete mechanical rebuild of the car until such time that the owner passed leaving an unfinished project.

The engine had been removed from the car along with the gearbox, the interior center console & seats. It is my understanding that these components were left stored in the owner’s warehouse along with his other cars for many, many, years long after he passed. During this time people had access to the warehouse & the gearbox, seats & center console went missing along with some other bits. Given the condition of the interior I could only assume that the seats & console were in beautiful condition much like the rest of the interior in the car & hence their disappearance.

Apparently the block had a small crack in it (left side center just between frost plug 3 & 4) & was professionally repaired using the ‘Cold Metal Stitching’ process...a very expensive method of repair.

The engine was placed back into the car along with the head, intake manifold & carbs to make for easy transportation. Alternator, radiator, clutch & other minor bits are missing...so what you see in the pics is what you get.

The EJag has never been restored in the past, no signs of accident damage or major rust through. The body panel fit is excellent...a testament to an accident free car. From my inspection it looks like the front suspension & brakes have undergone some rebuild work, the head was removed from the car & may have had some work done to it also along with the carbs.

The rear wheel arches of the car are showing signs of past metal work being done to them & are starting to bubble at the weld lines. The floor pans are the originals & are weak around the outside perimeter & at the toe boards. The areas under the seats are solid as shown in the pics. There are a few areas where the paint has peeled off on the bonnet but have been quickly primed & painted to prevent any further rusting of the metal. The driver’s side rocker panel just forward of the rear wheel arch show signs of  being ‘crushed’ by someone not lifting the car in the appropriate location. The spare wheel well is in good solid condition & the trailing arm mounts are sound.

The glass is in good condition with no significant chips or scratches (appears to be the original glass).

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
