Sellers description:
THE OVERVIEW: You are bidding on a beautiful rare collectible classic1971 Jaguar XKE coupe showing 54,877 actual miles on its working odometer. The XKE is one of the most beautiful automotive designs on the roadway today. Automobile magazine recently voted this car their number 10 coolest car of all time from their list of 100. ALSO, the XKE was featured in a recent exhibit of "industrial design" at the San Francisco Museum of modern art. The XKE is a without a doubt a breathtakingly beautiful, extremely sexy and still modern piece of automotive sculpture! Being the last year of the six cylinder coupe, this Jag has the 4.2 liter inline six cylinder engine which produces 245 horsepower from the factory. This car has updated triple Solex carbs, 4 speed tramsmission, four-wheel disc brakes and beautiful original leather interior. This stunning automobile has genuine wire wheels, am/fm/stereo cassette and just had a $1,000 mechanical service. This car will be sold with clear certificate of title.
THE BODY, PAINT & TRIM: While this car is at least a few paces away from being a concourse trailer queen, the antique white repaint shines well, most of the chrome and trim are very presentable and gleaming as well. Visually this car is a very good driver as it is OR a great full restoration candidate. There is minimal rust on this car.
THE INTERIOR: Believed to be ORIGINAL, the interior of this car is in quite exceptional condition. From the suede headliner to the supple tan leather hides down to the beautifully-trimmed carpets, the cockpit of this car is a splendid place to be. All the guages, lights, turn signal, brake lights [except for the tachometer] seem to be functioning well. The car also has a respectable working cassette sereo with two speakers.
THE ENGINE AND MECHANICALS: Fitted with upgraded triple Solex carbeurators, this car runs very strong with lots of power. A bit of further tuning may be in order as the car stumbles and backfires slightly especially before it is fully warmed. The brakes are strong and true, the suspension is solid too. A respected Burlingame, California shop has just performed some recent maintenance and repairs [$1,000] on this car though I would recommend a more thorough inspection before any extended drives in this car. The working odometer shows 54,877 miles as of this writing on April 13th, 2005 though I do not have official documentation to confirm this 100%.
THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE: This gorgeous 35 year-old classic drives quite well. It has gobs of power, makes beautiful throaty sounds and glean LOTS of attention on the roadways. The car steers well, brakes well, accellerates very well and tracks down the road quite well too.
DETAILS: An educated bidder is the best buyer. I WELCOME YOU TO COME LOOK, TOUCH, LISTEN! This '71 Jag is being sold "AS IS", "where is" with no written or verbal warranties.
