This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II fixed-head coupe that was purchased by the seller in 1994 and underwent a refurbishment between 1996 and 2011. The car is finished in Pale Primrose over a black interior, and power is supplied by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, both of which were reportedly rebuilt in 2017. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, twin electric cooling fans, Dayton S2 15” knock-off wire wheels, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This XKE is now offered with removed spare parts, an owner’s manual, a parts catalogue, service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Pale Primrose and features chrome bumpers with overriders, a driver-side mirror, chrome window surrounds, and twin polished exhaust outlets. The seller notes that the rubber seals around the windows and rear bumper were replaced in 2017. Blemishes are noted around the front valance.

Dayton S2 15” wire wheels wear earless spinners and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that are said to have been installed in 2018. Work performed in 2003 reportedly included an overhaul of the brakes and replacement of the shocks.

The cabin houses bucket seats that are trimmed in black leather along with matching door panels and carpeting. The seller notes that the air conditioning is inoperable, electrical issues are present, and the removed radio, speakers, and center console components are included in the sale. An aftermarket shift knob has been added.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and two electric cooling fans. The engine and four-speed manual transmission were reportedly rebuilt in 2017 by Vintage Auto Service in Oakland, California. The battery should be replaced per the seller.

A stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
