Note above auction was in the UK and probably a typo and not this car, however it remains as possibly part of its history.

    Auction description:

    Lot #65051

    Seller: SusanH

    Location: Hummelstown, Pennsylvania 17036

    Chassis: 1R27107

    58k Miles Shown, TMU

    4.2-Liter Inline-Six

    Four-Speed Manual Transmission

    British Racing Green Paint

    Black Upholstery

    Chrome 15" Knock-Off Wire Wheels

    Kenwood Cassette Stereo

    Four-Wheel Disc Brakes

    Chrome Bumpers

    Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate

Private Party Or Dealer: Private Party

This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe is a non-running project that is finished in green over black upholstery. Equipment includes a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, 15″ wire wheels, chrome bumpers, stainless dual exhaust outlets, and a Kenwood cassette stereo. The car is said to have been purchased by the seller’s late brother in 2010 and was inherited by the seller in 2017. This Series II coupe is offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished in British Racing Green from the factory and features pop-out rear quarter windows, a side-hinged rear hatch, chrome bumpers with overriders, stainless dual exhaust outlets, hood vents, and a driver-side mirror. Paint damage is noted on the hood.

Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE tires. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes with inboard rear rotors, and the seller notes that the system is non-operational.

The cabin features bucket seats that are trimmed in black upholstery along with matching door panels and carpeting. Interior features include a Kenwood cassette stereo, three-point seat belts, a heater, a locking glove box, and a polished handbrake lever.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. An analog clock and gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level are center-mounted. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, while true mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six does not turn freely. Engine stamping 7R8403–9 matches the identification tag and Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. The seller notes a number of leaks from the drivetrain.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Underside rust is present, and additional underbody photos can be viewed in the gallery.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors, identification numbers, and a manufacture date of October 22, 1969.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
