1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 2 4.2 FHC

KEY FACTS

A beautiful and useable example of the iconic British sports car.

Under the long bonnet, there lies a 4.2-litre straight-six engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels.

The odometer displays 21,567 miles, however this is not warranted.

A left-hand drive example, this Series 2 fixed-head coupe was originally sold in New York, USA, and was imported into the UK and registered with the DVLA in August 1995.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This E-Type is finished with timeless black paintwork over a red leather-trimmed interior.

Equipment includes a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel.

It rides on the correct set of 15-inch polished wire wheels with two-eared knock-off hub nuts.

The car presents in largely original condition, but has been fitted with a more modern radio/cassette player, Pioneer speakers and an aftermarket ammeter.

It will be supplied with a spare wire wheel and tools, some documentation of its service history, many previous invoices and photographs, and a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.

The owner notes that despite being left-hand drive, its narrow body and compact cabin means it does not hamper driving on UK roads; and of course it is the ideal configuration for driving in continental Europe and beyond.

CONDITION

There has been no known accident damage to this vehicle.

The black paintwork has been fully or partly resprayed in the past and is described by the vendor as being in good overall condition, with a few touched-in stone chips and marks around the car.

It is not known whether the cabin has been retrimmed, but the red leather upholstery presents very well indeed, with only minor creasing on the seats and some general signs of use-related wear on the interior trim and switchgear.

There are also some minor marks on the steering wheel, the roof lining and the rear luggage space.

There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.

The car’s most recent MOT test was conducted on 3 June 2021 at 21,519 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with deterioration of the offside front upper suspension arm ball joint dust cover and damage to the offside track rod end ball joint dust cover being listed as minor defects.

SERVICE HISTORY

This E-Type has been maintained and serviced privately, and has recently benefitted from an oil and oil filter change, along with replacement of the temperature sender unit and rubber mountings.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
