Ebay item 3/2/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Car has a buy it now price of $21,000 for 9 days.

Sellers description:
An extremely straight ,dry , California, 1969 Jaguar XKE FHC 2 seat coupe. Here is my best assessment of its condition.

1. Matching Numbers--- 69k miles are original--- I am the third owner--
2. Engine very strong (compression is 155-160 in all cylinders) .. Hard to read but it appears to a 9 compression on the id plate
3. Has original plug wires still. (I will be replacing wires with stock material
4. All gears engage nicely. (March 1, 2009 drove car and it went through gears with no apparent issues
5. Brakes work .... stops straight
6. Interior dry and clean, Door panels and other vinyl very nice
7. Original spare tire
8. Car was painted once in 1982-------- original color was silver as evidenced by frame rails and behind dash
9. Under carriage is extremely dry
10. Needs paint ...Body is in very good condition... Laquer cracks from last paint job
11. All lights and turn signals work.
12. Has original owners manual and workshop Manual.
13. Steering wheel in very nice condition .
14. Have complete Air Coditioning unit with compressor and pulleys. According to 2nd owner he pulled it out in 1974 because he needed the leg room. It appears to be all there and comes with the car.
15. Comes with few extra odds and ends. has non original radio in it. Have a set of stock resonators that come with the car.
16. The interior has all original vinyl in very good condition. Carpets are not original as well as the velour fronts an seats. All leather other than on top surface is original.

The car has a ton of potential plus it is extremely rare being in California its whole life. The body is extremely straight . According to second owner (1972-2001), he had the valves changed when unleaded gas came out .(hardened seats and valves) so you use normal fuel w/o putting lead additives. He had the paint done in early 80's and redid the seat tops then. One could leave the car alone and use it or restore it back to original silver and black.

The car is in Southern California
Notice: I am not an expert just an enthusiast and car is as is.

As at 1 Nov 2009 this car is for sale in Queensland, Australia. Advertised on carsales.com.au.
Seller's comments: "A great driving coupe! Restore while you drive. Very solid California E-Type.
This car drives very well at all speeds. All numbers match ID plate including front frame. JDHT Certificate comes with car. VIN # 1R25978, ENG # 7R4578-9, CAR # 4R21183, G/BOX # KE6074. The body is extremely solid having been in California all its life. Last registered in 2001. Very strong motor with oil pressure not below 40psi when hot. Engine reconditioned with hardened valves. Clutch and gearbox strong. Brakes are very good. Needs new paint as black enamel is cracking badly. Looks great from 10' but closer inspection reveals cracking paint. Cracks are caused by bad preparation not rust. Original colour was silver. Under bonnet still silver. Seats fronts have been done in black velour not leather. Rest of interior is original and in excellent condition. All electrics work except clock! Can be registered in any State left hand drive. Will provide import approval. A great E-Type to restore slowly while still driving. Must sell! "

Car on sale @ Ebay Australia Item 250644220888

Starting Bid $28,000
Buy Now $35,000

This Series 2 E-Type drives extremely well. It was imported last year from California and was last registered in the US in 2001. All the numbers match the I.D. plate and it comes with a JDHT Certificate confirming the numbers. It was mechanically overhauled during the 90's. The original colour was silver but is now painted black. The car needs TLC to be made 100% including new paint and rubbers etc. The engine bay is still original silver and needs painting. To do the job right the engine and gearbox need to be removed and the entire car stripped and painted. The only rust is surface rust at the very end of the driver side floor. The sills, boot floor, bonnet and rear suspension hang points are all very solid. The interior is original apart from the roof lining and the seat fronts. The dash and dash top are in great condition. The motor was rebuilt to run on unleaded fuel. The compressions are 145-150 per cylinder and the oil pressure remains over 40 psi hot @ 3000 rpm and does not drop below 20 psi at idle. The clutch, gearbox, final drive and brakes are all strong. If you want further information please call mobile : 0408060971. Thanks for looking!! Good luck with the bidding!!

This is a 1969 Series 2 E-Type Coupe. Jaguar Heritage Certificate with matching No's. Original colour was silver. The car drives well and could be road registered as is with very little work. Needs new paint and rubbers and mechanical tidy up only. Drive while restoring. May trade. Must sell to make way for new project.
