Ebay item 1/13/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Jaguar-XKE-Series-2-4-2-Litre-6-Cyl-Covertible-Road ...
Current bid $4,450 reserve not met, 5 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Lets start with the history. My father was a veterinarian and I bought this car from a client of his. It was the "Red Barchetta" so to speak as it was hidden in a barn and had years of accumulation of "small goodies" piled on it. He had apparently approached my dad about buying it for me several times; but for some reason pops kept it to himself! (Probably did not want "Wild Will" doing !50 mph on the roads out to our farms!) But Dad made the mistake of taking me on a call with him one day to their farm and once I saw it...game on! I didnt have the money and pops would not give it or loan it to me. Lucky for me it just so happened that my dad's sister, Auntie Ann, (Another veterinarian) had just married a Bank President from a local town close to ours ...so...I went to visit my "New Uncle Bob". He gladly loaned me the $5500. I think it was just a gag to create an interesting entry to his joining our family ranks! At any rate I drove the car for about a year and parked it for restoration. Spent endless hours taking it apart, stripping the paint, and started back together. Then came the CD technology with my new career in manufacturing engineering, a couple of house moves, two kids, a divorce, and several farms that keep too busy to ever revisit the project. I'm 49 now and the car has been in the garage all these years waiting for an eager person to finish her.

Originally issued in British racing green, I started a complete restoration of this car about 20 years ago. All body surfaces have been stripped. I chose the color red to go back with and the front frame & firewall have been painted such. (Probably a mistake not to go back with the original BRG...but kids make those!) Many accessory parts have been painted back to their original black, many still await the TLC of the new owner to finish. Everything is dusty but you can see by the front end picture that everything is painted black/red and when cleaned could be taken forward in red or begin in green. All parts to this car are boxed if not still attached to the car and YES they are ALL there from the manual to the shifter knob. Also included are new gasket sets I purchased. This came stock with a 2 carb set-up but I have a 3 carb set-up that I will sell also in another listing. The car was produced in 4/1970 and has 26,000 miles on it. Obviously it ran strong and flawlessly at the time I started dismantling it. The engine has been rotated annually and a small amount of oil placed into each cylinder. To the discriminitive it will need complete rubber, exhaust, carpet, top, re-chromed, etc.

There are only two areas of rust rot. Floor pans and behind the RF wheel well. Very typical of this car.

Tires on it were new 20 years ago and have less than 500 miles but they are not the proper ones for this car.

Sellers description:
very low mileage Jaguar XKE. This car has less than 24,000 miles on it. The mileage is documented on the title. It was owned for the entire last 42 years by two owners. The last owner started to take it apart to change it to his taste, and never completed it. He was going to make it red. The car was originally British Racing Green! I put it back together only to see if everything is there, and I believe it is complete. Very little rust. This is a nice car to start with.
