Ebay item 1/26/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-Roadster-1970-Jaguar-XKE-E-Type-Roadst ...
Current bid $2,175, no reserve, 4 bids, 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
The car is a one owner car and has been garage kept from the mid-eighties. The car was disassembled to allow for restoration; however, after the car was dismantled, the effort was stopped.

The car belongs to my father and has always been a topic of conversation between us. He originally purchased the car from Manhattan Auto in Rockville, Md (I think). Apparently, in 70, he went to the dealership in search of an MG, but while looking around, his wife, my mother, saw this car on the showroom floor and needless-to-say, found themselves driving it home. The car was originally used as a daily driver and eventually found its way to second string. I remember sitting on his lap and driving it and sitting in the passenger seat while excitedly shifting gears for him... This was all back when car seats were optional.

This car, for me, has been great to dream about and "visit" from time to time, but as of late he and I have decided to let it go. I sincerely hope that the purchaser of this Jag will resume a restoration and return it to its original condition. The E Type is truly one of the best looking sports cars ever produced.

There are a lot of E Types out there that have been converted using Ford 8s, and that is fine, but this car offers someone, at least, the opportunity to restore a classic using all numbers matching mechanicals. In addition to this, the car would have been fitted with Zenith Stromberg carboration, but a triple SU setup was purchased and installed.

The factory color was British Racing Green and the re-spray about 12 years ago was to be that color as well. The re-spray was excellent at the time, but now shows its age also. The car features a 4.2 Liter dual overhead cam engine with a 4-speed forward transmission. The rear end suspension is independent with inboard disc brakes and the front suspension is an unequal a-arm with disc brakes. As far as I know, everything being conveyed with the vehicle is original. Parts for this car are readily available from a host of suppliers both here in the USA and abroad.

Please Note: The windshield was damaged while the car was in storage. The car does show rust in some areas; however, many of the areas that one would expect to find rust damage are clean (i.e. under the battery, under the fuel tank and spare tire).
The bonnet is in good condition as are the door skins, boot lid, front sub-frame, and the majority of the monocoque. The boxed items shown in the photos range from chrome trim pieces and fluid bottles to an expansion tank, manifolds, and air cleaner assembly. The original stone screen goes, as well as, the original tonneau cover, seats, radiator and fan assembly, etc... Many misc. parts.

The engine will need to be gone through, but again, it started life with the car along with the transmission, etc. The engine long block and head have been crated and I can provide loading of this onto your transport.

I also have the title... Free and Clear.

for sale at 71900 € at TheMotorsGallery

seller's description:
Etat Carrosserie
