1970 jaguar XKE roadster, series II, 4.2 liter 6-cylinder engine, 4-speed manual gearbox, matching numbers. Finished in a primrose yellow. A beautiful car meticulously maintained over the past 27 years and in excellent condition. This British classic turns heads wherever you go. Enz Ferrari once called it “the most beautiful car ever made”,and it has even earned a place in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in new York City.

I usually drive the car 30-40 miles per summer (May 1 – Oct 15) and then store it in a heated underground garage during the winter months with no in/out privileges. It does not get driven in the rain and is always kept undercover in a garage during the summer. Mechanically and electrically sound. The current mileage is 85,150 miles, the car is serviced every Spring. It has been repainted in past and the paint still in excellent condition as car is kept in a garage when not being driven. All chrome has been re-done and in excellent condition. Original interior and trim was replaced a few years ago with an aftermarket one virtually identical to the original (BAS Ltd – Jaguar Trim Specialists Vancouver) and in excellent shape. Original soft top hood replaced (BAS Ltd) and in excellent shape. I have tried to keep as many of the original parts as possible (e.g., all signal light covers, dash instrumentation and switches etc.) to keep it as original as possible. A big bore stainless steel exhaust has been in place for the past 5 years, giving it a really nice sound and boosting its performance. It was a 1st place show winner for 2 years running in the local jag show as well as best looking car in show one of these years. I stopped showing the car thereafter as I was tired of “guarding it from spectators” wanting to touch it and take photos. I am the 4th owner and have service records back to its early service days. The extensive maintenance record showcases the care and attention to detail that has been invested in this classic beauty, ensuring its optimal condition and performance.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
