I did buy this car in 1997 and drove it occasionally during the summer until fall 2000 when the engine started having rod-knock. I started dissassembling the car in late 2001. Currently (01/2003) it is stripped to the bare shell and undergoing complete restoration. There is quite some rust damage to the tub, which I had completely sandblasted and epoxy primed, requiring new floors, outersills, closing & bulkhead panels. My goal is to have the car back on the road by spring 2004.

Changes in my life (2nd child, purchase of old victorian fixer upper house) have caused me to put the restoration into slow motion for a few years. I simply cannot devote the required time at this point so I keep giving chunks of work to professionals whenever sufficient funds become available. I have the tub in the body shop and the folks work on it whenever regular business is slow. The work on the main tub is almost finished: new floors, new outer sills and stiffeners , new bulkhead panels, rear quarter panels, etc. Started to work on the bonnet. I'm planning to have the IRS completely overhauled by a professional shop in fall.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
