This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 coupe was dispatched on May 16, 1966, for Jaguar Cars in New York and was purchased by the seller from its previous owner of 33 years in 2018. A 2015-2017 refurbishment saw the car repainted gray over green upholstery, and it is powered by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Other equipment includes enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, and air conditioning, the latter of which was installed during a 2020 service that also saw brake, suspension, and steering work. This XKE Series I 2+2 coupe is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a tool kit, and a clean Florida title in the name of the seller’s LLC.

Compared to the contemporary coupe, the 2+2 version of the XKE featured a lengthened wheelbase and increased roof height to accommodate a pair of rear seats. Delivered from the factory in Opalescent Dark Green, the car was repainted gray in 2017 and is equipped with a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, rear vent windows, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets. The doors were adjusted in 2020 and fitted with new seals at that time, and the seller notes that the doors remain hard to close.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185/15 Michelin X redline tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The calipers and booster were rebuilt in 2020, while the brake hoses, brake light switch, master cylinder,and steering column bushings were also replaced and auxiliary brake bleeder hoses were installed at that time.

The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in green leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, and an aftermarket R134a air-conditioning system that was installed in 2020 by Prestigious Euro Cars of Florida in Ft. Lauderdale. The window regulators were rebuilt during the same service.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 93 miles, approximately 70 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The wiring was serviced and the dash bulbs were replaced in 2020.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was installed under prior ownership and features dual Stromberg carburetors. The spark plugs, water pump pulley, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, and engine mounts were replaced in 2020.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-syncromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
