Terrific Dry E-Type Series 1.5 FHC Coupe for Restoration. Factory Primrose paint with black leather interior. Represented to us as a fully matching number car. Just a tad under 100,000 believed to be original miles. Car spent its life in a very dry, Nevada climate! Still has the original 1969 Nevada license plate. In dry storage for many years. 4spd manual transmission with 4.2 liter Inline 6 XKE Engine. We have not tried starting the engine or driving the car, since the car has been sitting many years, we are have decided not even to try to turn the engine. We will be lubing the engine up properly, and expect to have the engine turn over easily. Appears to be an original, proper car that had some low-speed, sheet metal collision damage to the bonnet, which has been professionally roughed into the proper shape and painted with DP yellow primer/sealer. There is some rust-through, minor corrosion damage in Footwell. Lead joint crack in LH rear fender to sill area. Valuable new parts included with the car, including new black door panels, some trim, etc. A terrific car to restore!

The first owner was William Dean Whitfield from Las Vegas. He managed to get a Jag that has the same birthday as he had: 7. of November. After an accident 1977-78 the bonnet was damaged and the car was stored. He moved with his Jag to Grants,New Mexico and
1998 he began to restore hisJag and put some new parts on it but he stopped 1999.Sometime he moved again to Nevada in a little town called McDermitt. July 2009 died Mr Whitfield and his Jag was sold to Larry Foreland in Renton state Washington. He stored the non driving Jag outside for 2 years and sold it 2011 to Giordanos Vintage Motors.
I found the car on his webside and bought it. In February the Jag arrived to Rotterdam ,Netherland. And now the work begins. The Jag will be restore to its new factory US delivery conditions.
If anyone knows more about the history of this car please let me know.

1968 Jaguar E-Type FHC - Description of Condition
Here is a description of condition and notes I took today during the time I took photos of the areas of the car you requested. Alan Gerard, a professional E-Type restorer provided the following comments.
These notes will match up with photos of the specific areas. To save time, I did not number or write descriptions or titles for photos. I think you know these cars well, and hopefully it will be clear what photos match up with the notes?

Boot Floor-Including spare tire well:
No apparent Rustout. Untouched, factory Flint coat sound deadening intact. Boot appears complete, but no toolbox or tools. Have original style jack, with bag, wheel spinner removal tool and lead hammer.
Boot is overall Intact, original and untouched.

Battery Box Area:
Battery box support intact and not rotten. Undershield in place and in nice condition. Subframe mount to body appears to be solid. Rust-through on sill end panel below battery box. Original helmet style battery posts/cables-very original and one more details highlighting the originality of this car. It adds up to what appears to be the case where car was parked or stored since 1978. Last Licensed in Nevada in 1978 it appears. The car is very original.

Footwells:
Left hand footwell is rusted through in several places and will need to be replaced. Right Hand footwell appears to have been damaged/dented by someone using it to jack car? Requires straightening or replacement. Basic floor structure and floor joints to tunnel and inner sills appears to be solid overall. Probably replacing front footwells and cleaning up floor structure is what is required, and little else here.
Undestructure looks solid.

Doors and Rocker Panels:
RH door should probably be skinned minimum of 5 inches up from rust perforation. LH door appears solid. LH Latchpost/shutface has rust hole at bottom..see photo.

Rockers - exterior look pretty good and solid. Note LH seam behind door where lead? Is cracking out from some rust behind it. We cannot get into rockers to see condition as we do not have scope or other tool to look through drain holes or other access.

Rear Interior/Roof/bootlid:
The headliner has been removed, and old glue and deterioted foam padding and minor surface rust present.

Alan's Comments of overall originality and condition:
This E-Type appears to be complete, other than toolbox and tools, and minor trim items may be missing.
Some damage to trim items in damaged RH headlight area. Eyebrow bent. Note the many photos of boxes of parts, including a very valuable, largely complete Rubber Seal kit. This car is very original, honest and is a very good car to restore.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
