Car to be at auction:
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auctioneer's descrption:
Lot 151 - 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Litre Fixedhead Coupe
Estimate: £35,000 - £40,000
Registration Number: EU Taxes Paid
Chassis Number: 1E34809
One of the greatest post-war sports cars, Jaguar's E-type made immediate headlines on its launch in March 1961. Here was a sleek and beautiful 150mph car with a competition pedigree that could be bought for just over £2,000, almost half the cost of an Aston Martin or Ferrari. A direct descendant of the XK120 and competition C and D-type models that so dominated fifties sports car racing, the E-type shared its 265bhp 3.8 litre twin-cam straight-six engine with the XK150 'S', mated to a Moss four-speed gearbox with synchromesh on the top three ratios. Beneath the William Lyons/Malcolm Sayer-styled body, available in either closed or roadster form, the steel monocoque chassis sported all-independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, mounted inboard at the back.
Finished in arguably the best colour for an early E-Type, Primrose Yellow with Black interior, this delightful 68' was recently imported from the United States and is in original condition. The car would benefit from some light re-commissioning, however the engine, body, chassis, interior and transmission are all described as being in good order with the owner informing us the car has excellent oil pressure and is a nice driving car. It is supplied with a US Title and customs clearance papers, so UK taxes are paid and registration a formality.
Rarely do 4.2 specification cars come on the open market in such a delightful colour combination. Don't miss your chance to own one of the twentieth century's most iconic cars. The Jaguar E-Type.

Car to return to auction 8/14

Auction description:
August 30, 2014 auction
Lot 311 - 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixedhead Coupé
Registration FND 398F
Chassis Number 1E34809
Engine Number 7E14340-9
Odometer reading 50,000 miles
Estimate £34,000 - £39,000
This 4.2 litre, Series I, lefthand drive fixed coupé was manufactured in 1968 and we are lead to believe spent the vast majority of its life in California before being moved to New York prior to a return to the UK. The Primrose yellow coachwork is in very good order having been re-sprayed at an earlier date as is the black interior, which we believe to be original, and the chrome work.
The vendor informs us that he has recently dropped the rear sub frame in order to recondition the rear brakes and that the floor pans all appear to be totally original even showing signs of the original factory yellow paint, he believes any inspection will confirm the quality of this lovely original Jaguar and having been driven through the East Sussex countryside upon consignment, we are sure the new owner would not be disappointed.
Supplied with a V5 registration document, import documentation, valid road fund license and a MoT test certificate valid until April 2015 and offered at an attractive estimate could this be an ideal route into fabulous E-Type ownership, especially with ever climbing values rendering Series I E-types an appreciating asset.

I am now the lucky owner of this car. I intend to look after the car well and would love to hear from anyone that knows about the car's history.
