1968 Jaguar E-type (XKE) Coupe. This Matching numbers, Heritage Certificate holding E Type is a very early series 1.5 coupe,(actually the 71st one produced by its VIN #) which means it has all the most desirable features of a series 1 car except for the covered headlights. This car is fitted with original toggle switch dashboard, series 1 style seats, triple SU carbureted 4.2 L engine, coolant header tank, and of course the most desirable bumpers and lights of all of the E-types. The car was fully professionally restored in Canada in 2017 and was offered for sale by Southerby’s in their 2018 Ft. Lauderdale auction with an estimated value of $90-$120,000. It’s restoration included complete professional paint and body work, new interior including headliner, interior panels, door panels, new seat leathers and foams, new carpet set, new Dash top, all the chrome was re-plated or replaced, and much more. Mechanically the car is a very strong runner with a great new clutch, new hydraulics, refurbished electrical system, with a few thoughtful upgrades including Per Tronics electronic ignition added inside the distributor cap and an auxiliary thermostatically controlled cooling fan for the engine. Recently the car received complete tuning and fluid service, fuel system service including filter and tank seals, professional paint improvement, new driver side mirror, professionally refurbished original steering wheel and new Vredestein tires. This rare car is in excellent restored condition, everything is working properly and ready to be enjoyed or shown.

Ebay item 1/21/21
www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Jaguar-E-Type-Series-1-5/114638949962
Current bid: $12,600 no reserve 4 bids 6 days left in auction, seller lucylocket3477, 72k miles, car now said to be in Ravenna, Kentucky.
Seller's description:
Matching numbers E-Type, an early series 1.5 coupe being the 71st example produced, documented with a Heritage Certificate.
The XKE underwent a full restoration in 2017 before being sold at auction in 2018, when I purchased it.
4.2-liter inline-six engine matching numbers and original to the car, featuring triple SU carburetors mated to a four-speed manual transmission with a newly installed clutch.
Finished in British Racing Green, the exterior received a complete professional repaint from the original color during its restoration!
Upgraded items include:
- an auxiliary thermostatically controlled cooling fan as well as a PerTronix electronic ignition, which was added inside the distributor cap.
- Features specific to the Series 1.5 examples include open headlights along with tail lights mounted above the rear bumperettes, which are original to the car.
- Chrome cladding was re-plated or replaced during restoration.
The wing mirrors had been affixed to the bonnet prior to my acquisition, which I moved to the correct position on the doors while eliminating the previous mounting holes...
The black leather interior underwent restoration, receiving new seat leather and foam, headliner, carpet set, dash top, door panels and interior panels.
The car is fitted with the original toggle switch dashboard, including the AM radio. Interior chrome accent pieces have been replaced during the 2017 restoration.
- Behind the restored wood-rimmed steering wheel sits factory instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer and a five-digit analog odometer displaying 72,990 miles, which is believed to be original...
- Chrome plated knock-off 15” wire wheels are rounded out by Vredestein Classic Sprint tires measuring 185/70 all around.
This car needs nothing just a new driver who will take very good care of it as I did. Undercarriage is solid and clean. Overall a great drivers car, upgraded and sorted for reliable driving, events & shows. Includes car cover and manuals.
