This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I fixed-head coupe that is finished in black over red and powered by its numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six. The seller runs a restoration shop in Redmond, Oregon, and acquired the car as a stalled project in 2014. He completed it over the following four years, including a bare-metal repaint in the factory color and reupholstering the interior. New wiring was also installed, and the fuel system, brakes, and suspension were reconditioned. Approximately 140 miles have been added since the work was completed. This Series I E-Type is now offered with a build certificate from Jaguar, photos and records from the refurbishment, a car cover, and a clean Oregon title that describes the car as a 1967 model year.
The seller acquired the car as a roller after bodywork and metal replacement had been partially completed during previous ownership. The exterior was subsequently stripped to bare metal before being refinished in its factory black.Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured with two-earned knock-offs and wear 205/70 Avon Turbospeed CR28 tires. Braking is managed by four-wheel Dunlop discs, and the system has been reconditioned. A new cloth-covered wiring harness has also been installed.New red upholstery and carpet fill out the cabin. The dash pad, door panels, center console, headliner, and rear compartment were also recovered.A reconditioned steering wheel frames the primary Smiths factory gauges. Auxiliary instrumentation is mounted in the center dash above a row of toggle switches. 9k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, and about 140 miles have been added since the restoration work was completed.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with three SU carburetors and powers the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The seller states that the engine, gearbox, and rear end were all gone through, and that the carburetors were rebuilt. Photos of engine block and cylinder head stampings can be seen in the gallery below. Both match the engine number (7E 9609-9) shown on the chassis plate and Jaguar certificate. The fuel tank was reportedly stripped and sealed before being reinstalled with new lines and a replacement SU fuel pump.
Albums containing photos and receipts from the refurbishment accompany the sale
