Ebay item 4/8/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $8,500 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $10,500.

Sellers description:
I found this car in Branson, where she had been sitting since 1984. The lady I bought it from said that she parked it in 1984 when the carbs were out of tune and it was not running right. There was nobody local that knew how to work on a Jag, so she parked it, time passed, and you know the rest. The car has a few areas of rust, but is actually pretty solid. The left sill/rocker will need attention in the front, as shown in the pics - that is the worst spot. There is a little rust in the right sill as well, but not near as bad as the left. The front floor pans will need replaced these along with a sill are readily available aftermarket), but the rear floors are okay and the inner sills seems fine. There is a small amount of rust under the spare, towards the front left of the spare tire area. There is also some small spots of rust around the headlight frames. I have the light frames and glasses (which are in very nice condition). I could have put these on and hidden the rust, but want everyone to see exactly what they are getting. All the weather-strip channels around the car are rust free (some surface only). There is some surface rust on the bottom of the right door, but should be fine with no need for replacement panels. Both doors seem solid and close nicely. The bonnet has a little rust under the front nose, but should be able to be fixed with ease. I did not try airing the tires up on the car. I winched it on and it rolled nicely. I think that three would hold air, but the front driver's tire will likely not hold air. I will make sure it is on aired up tires when it is picked up for easy loading. Everything on the car appears to be there, however the original air cleaner was replaced with the short-style air cleaners some time ago, which I think looks much better anyway. I have a clear title in hand. I haven't verified that it is matching numbers, but was told that it was and can verify anything on the car this weekend, when I go back to the lake (the car is at a garage about an hour north of where I live). I put 68000 as the miles. The odometer reads in the 60s and considering that it has not been on the road since 1984, this is probably accurate, although I cannot verify that.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
