Opening bid $34,500, no reserve, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar E-type Coupe (Series One) 4.2L
Current mileage 88,194

I have owned this E-type for 14 years. During this time I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with her. We have covered over 17,000 miles together and she is truly a pleasure to drive and own. My wife and I participate in two major Rallys each year in the E and it is always kept in fine running order. This car can be driven anywhere with confidence. She turns heads everywhere we take her and people always want a closer look. This car starts immediately every time, never overheats and has enough torque to push you back in your seat. As she roars down a country lane at speed, the sound of her voice, breathing through the free flow exhaust, is joyous. The heavens part, angels sing and life takes on new meaning. I really don't have the words to describe the driving experience exactly, but that comes close. Of all the E-types I have seen since I fell in love with them at 9 years of age, the Series 1 4.2 Coupe is my favorite. It is truly the only one to have.

My current personal circumstances now require me to offer her for sale. I do have the clear Georgia title and current registration. I also have a thick file containing receipts for parts and work performed while in my custody.
I have always kept this car indoors and, with one minor exception, she is rust free. I live in Georgia in the USA and rust is something we don't see much of. Prior to my ownership she lived in Kentucky and was similarly treated.
This car is Opalescent Maroon (original color) with Maroon leather. It is also LHD.
The car has a Heritage Certificate, which confirms the engine and gearbox are the original units. This car drives extremely well and has been professionally maintained.

Please understand, this car is ready and able to rally, cruise, drive across country.......whatever you wish.

Engine:
Rebuilt at 87,320 miles.
-Engine re-sleeved then bored to accommodate original pistons, which were checked carefully and found to be in excellent condition.
-New standard crankshaft, standard main and rod bearings.
-New timing chains and guide shoes, all timing gears are in excellent condition.
-Payen Gaskets.
-Block magna-fluxed and checked for flatness.
-Cylinder head checked, skimmed and given complete valve job.
-Original cams in excellent condition.
-ARP high tensile strength head studs.
-Oil pump still excellent (Had replaced it when I first got the car for good measure).
-Spin on oil filter conversion.
-Pertronix electronic ignition.
-All three SU HD8 carburetors completely rebuilt.
-New Jet-hot coated (inside and out) exhaust headers. The remainder of the sport exhaust is in very good condition.
-Radiator cleaned, and checked. Still in very good condition (I had it re-cored about six years ago and only use distilled water with anti-freeze).
-All new Kevlar cooling hoses.
-Alternator is a Delco one-wire which is more reliable than the Lucas.

Original All-synchro Gearbox:
Rebuilt at same time as engine.
-New lay shaft.
-New bearings throughout (including all needle bearings).
-All new seals and gaskets.
-All new synchronizers.
-All gears carefully checked and excellent.
-New gearbox-mount packings and spring.
-80W90 Castrol gear oil.

Differential:
The original limited slip differential has been rebuilt (75,000 miles) with new bearings, clutch pack and seals. It works well with no noises.

Brakes and Suspension:
The brakes work quite well.
All brake calipers were bored and re-sleeved with stainless some years ago. Also, all other hydraulic cylinders were rebuilt/re-sleeved by Whitepost in Virginia. I have flushed the brake system every two-years and use only Castrol LMA.
The suspension is tight. I replaced the lower ball joints at some time and recently had the rack boots done. The rear trailing mount bushings have been replaced also.

Wheels and tires: The tires are 205/70ZR15 Pirelli P4000 and are about 5 years old. They are in good condition with even wear. The wheels are new 15x6 Jaguar D-type replicas. They are spline mount and utilize the factory knock-offs. It took me forever to find them. I added these wheels 5 years ago when I purchased the Pirellis and absolutely LOVE them. They make the car handle very well and are absolutely true and straight.

Body and Paint:
This car has had only one re-spray and that was 20 years ago (before I bought her). The paint has held up very well. I keep her indoors and waxed. There are some chips here and there and a place on the crease of her right hip that is flaking off. The paint is cracked on a place on the bonnet. There is also a ding on the left flank where my daughter bumped into it with her bicycle. It was touched up, but still evident. I just had new heel wells installed as the originals had some small perferations in them. I have pictures of the repair and it was professionally done.
There is some paint bubbling at the bottom of the driver’s door (See pictures, a new door skin would be in order to repair properly). The door drain became stopped up before I got her. The bubbling has not changed much over the 14 years I have owned the car.
I recently rebuilt the driver's door hinge (using precision tool steel) and replaced the door brake at the same time. I also disassembled, cleaned, beadblasted, painted and lubricated the bonnet latches. Both doors and the bonnet open, close and latch easily.
The rockers, floors and sills are very solid (as is the rest of the car) and rust free. She passes the magnet test with flying colors.
There is no evidence of this car ever having been in an accident. Everything is straight and true.

Interior:
The interior was next on my “to-do” list, but life has intervened.
The seats are leather and in very good condition. The leather is supple and the seats have good support.
The headliner is original and definitely needs replacing.
The carpeting needs replacing.
The dash top is very good as are the fascia and gauges, etc.

Electrical:
All gauges work and are accurate. The clock does not work. All gauges illuminate when the head/parking lights are on. The wiring behind the dash is all original and shows no signs of ever being tampered with. All lights and signals work well. Headlights are Hella H4.
The windshield wipers do not work, nor does the heater motor.
I will include in the sale my file of receipts and paperwork, the original chrome wire wheels, original Lucas alternator, 1966 Georgia license plate and a large box of associated parts that I have accumulated over the years.

This car sold in March of 2010 to a gentleman in Switzerland and has become part of his collection. She was shippped out of Brunswick, Georgia and will likely never be seen in the US again.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
