Lot #67439

This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that is said to have remained with its original owner until its recent acquisition by the seller. Finished in light blue over dark blue leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six equipped with triple SU carburetors and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a push-button radio, glass headlight covers, bullet-style side mirrors, four-wheel disc brakes, and polished 15” wire wheels. This XKE is being offered with a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The car was repainted its current shade of blue some time during previous ownership. Exterior features include twin bullet-style side mirrors, hood louvers, glass headlight covers, and central exhaust outlets.

Polished 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 205/70 Advanta tires that were reportedly installed in 2020. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears.

The cabin houses seats trimmed in dark blue leather with matching door panels, carpets, and a black dashboard. Equipment includes lap belts for both occupants, a push-button radio, and toggle switches for vehicle functions. Cracking on the central armrest can be seen in the gallery below, along with various imperfections on the seats.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a suite of auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added during current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

Cylinder head stamping 7E8881-9 shown above matches the sequence stamped on the chassis plate.

November 2022 Update: Our team has just recently completed the restoration to this beautiful XKE Fixed Head Coupe, and is currently in the process of test driving the car. This show/driver level example will soon be ready, and should prove to be a worthy candidate for competition in your favorite Concours events, or as a great Blue-Chip investment!

This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe is a very original, numbers-matching 2 owner from new California car that is a true survivor. The Coupe’s original owner was a pilot who enjoyed the car for many years and serviced it regularly; in our experience, pilots have shown to take immaculate care of their vehicles! The 74,489 miles shown on the odometer are believed to be original, and after our comprehensive examination of the car we would believe this to be accurate. This example proved to be an excellent core car and as such proved to be worthy of restoring to a higher level...Everything on the car matches, except for the original exterior paint color, which our team decided to change to a more appealing Opalescent Silver Blue instead of the original solid Blue color.

Included in the restoration process: the E-Type has been dissembled, and all parts were fully documented and inspected. The vehicle body was worked, the metal finished, fit, and leaded as needed, and all body parts and chrome were perfectly fit to the car. All parts were individually painted off the car in the booth, then primed and sealed with base coat applied, clear coated, and finally color sanded and buffed to a beautiful finish. All mechanical systems were gone through and restored or replaced as necessary. An MP4 video documenting the Coupe’s restoration process accompany the car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
