For sale at Silverstone Auctions 22 February 2014
www.silverstoneauctions.com/1966-jaguar-e-type-series-1-42

Registration: LAX 66D
Chassis Number: 1E32839
Engine Number: 7E-8629-9
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 4200
Year of Manufacture: 1966
Estimate (£): 40,000 - 45,000

According to the Jaguar Heritage certificate 'LAX 66D' is a Series 1 4.2 litre fixedhead coupé manufactured on the 8th April 1966. It was dispatched on the 26th April 1966 to its first owners, Ann & Ernest Testa of Fairview Pennsylvania via Jaguar Cars, New York.

It was repatriated to the UK in 1994 and was converted to righthand drive with the interior changed from the original Black to a high-standard and contrasting Grey. The history file shows that it has been very well maintained since repatriation including an engine rebuild by VSE and the original gearbox replaced with a Getrag 5-speed making for a spirited drive. The exact ratios are listed in the file and we are informed the combination gives excellent mid-range acceleration when overtaking and great punch when exiting low-speed corners.

The V5C now shows a clear line of ownership since 1994 and the odometer 28,000 miles. Although not warranted, the previous MoT's do show that it has only covered 10,000 miles over the last 10 years.

'LAX 66D' is a very usable everyday classic and mechanically very sound. Externally some cosmetic improvements could be made to enhance the car although not essential in any way.

In summary, this car cannot be ignored given the E-Type standing in the classic car community, coupled with its very realistic guide price and future investment potential....

At Barons auction 24th June 2014 but not sold

www.barons-auctions.com/details.php

Offered here is a 1966 example of the 4.2 Series one,w which has benefited from many upgrades since being repatriated from the USA. These upgrades include the conversion to a 5-speed manual gearbox, Engine works by VSE, conversion back to triple SU carburettors, uprated brakes with Cooper Craft calipers and the fitting of 6 x 15 MWS, Competition specification, chrome whire wheels. There will be far more details in the comprehensive file, which is available to view at the sale.

The car is finished in opalescent dark metallic blue with linen leather and is described as being in outstanding ,mechanical order.

The car was sold at Silverstone Auctions, back in February for over £49,000 but the new owner came into a bit of a windfall and has now acquired his perfect example of the E-type, so this one is now superfluous to requirements.
Guide Price: £44000 to £50000
