Advertised for sale at www.classicshowcase.com as at 25 April 2015.
Seller's description: "It is not often that you find an original, unmolested, matching numbers XKE with 100% original interior. This fabulous color combination of golden sand and cinnamon, with long term ownership, has only traveled 87,028 miles since new. This is a car that we intend to continue on with the preservation restoration. We will do all the mechanical services to make it a good driver, and then it will be scheduled for paint, and a few remaining details attended to. Once completed, it will be a good contender for the preservation category in Jaguar concours'. It is a very difficult to find such a rare beauty in this condition. The purchase of this gem includes its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, and a jack."

Pleased to see the car is still in existence. This very car was a college graduation gift from my dad in June of 1971. Regret selling it 2 years later while stationed in Colorado Springs. Have a couple of photos if interested.

Auction description:

Lot 163

Sold for US$ 72,800 inc.premium

One owner for more than 5 decades

1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Coupe

To be sold without reserve

Quail Lodge Auction

Carmel, Quail Lodge & Golf Club

Chassis no. 1E32352

Engine no. 7E7200-9

This Series 1 4.2 E-Type is seen today in always maintained, but never restored condition, painted in Opalescent Gold Sand over cinnamon interior color. This matching numbers example is being sold now after long term ownership, having traveled 87,000 miles from new. The interior of this car wears beautifully, being mostly original, while the paint has received work throughout its life.

Overall, the car shows a tasteful amount of patina in and out, while maintaining functionality and operating order, described as driving quite nicely. Powered by the large 4.2 liter inline 6 that the car was delivered with new, this E-Type is equipped with the 4-speed manual fully synchronized transmission. Handling is provided by 4-wheel independent suspension that was so successful for Jaguar that they continued to use the same geometry for years of production with continual successful motorsports pedigree.

Included with the sale of this E-Type is the Jaguar Heritage Certificate showing that the car is indeed a numbers-matching example, as well as its spare tire and jack. The example being sold here is prepared for Sunday cruising and eligible to enter any number of vintage rallies.

Fred, you can be assured the car is in extremely good condition. Classic Showcase does excellent work.
