Car offered at:
www.classic-trader.com/fr/voitures/annonce/jaguar/type-e/type-e-4-2/1965/289719

Seller's description:
Our Matching Numbers Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Coupe 4.2 was manufactured on October 20, 1965 and delivered on October 28 of the same year. Interestingly it was delivered to Jaguar Cars, New York in the United States and waited almost 1 year to find its first owner with a recorded first registration date of 15th September 1966. Jaguar Heritage Trust has confirmed to us that all of our claims are true Car numbers actually match how it left the factory. Chassis number: 1E 32027 Engine number: 7E 6256-9 Body number: 4E 23065, Transmission number: EJ 5308. As with many US models, there is a gap before our car's history begins again in Europe, before it was released in December 1998 Imported from the Netherlands. Still in its original factory color Opalescent Green and Suede Green interior, it reappears in 2003, still in the Netherlands, and was put up for sale at the well-known The Gallery - Aaldering Classic & Sports Autos Brummen. From there the car found its soul mate and was bought by its sole German owner. Only €33,500 was paid for the car with original 84,495 miles in unrestored running condition. Impressively, the new owner drove it regularly, based on the car's rating in 2004 as a grade 3 vehicle. After a period of getting to know each other of almost 7 years, a suitable one became one.
Found a restoration company whose work began in January 2011. Sevent Seven Classic Cars Restorations in Northern Germany were selected to complete the work which was to be in condition 2- peak results in April 2012 with the car then being valued at €60,000. The result was excellent and was subsequently documented with 93,911 miles. A clear recommendation was given to carry out a sympathetic restoration with an eye on quality, but also the intention to continue driving the car. Fast forward to 2022 almost 10,000 miles later and with a total mileage of 104,216 miles the car is still in excellent condition with a July 2019 appraisal of €160,700 and a condition grade of 2-. It has an impressive 20 year documented history thanks to the last owner who clocked almost 20,000 miles in almost 20 years and had the car regularly serviced by his restorers. the car is offered with a new TÜV and a current Classic Analytics (50 pages) report****

**Exterior **- After a frame-off restoration in 2011 the car is still in impressive condition today but it has to be stressed that this is an older restoration from a decade ago and the car is what is important , has driven about 10,000 miles since then. There are some small time-related markers that should be looked at to be appreciated and understood. The following restoration pictures (dozens more available) offer only a taste of the work carried out, especially before the actual painting. Long deliberations and intense discussions took place before finally settling on a colour, which was a modern metallic with a touch of tradition. The choice finally fell on BMW Oxford Green metallic (Code 430), which may not be to everyone's taste, but has something and is often confused with a real Jaguar color tone. All chrome and gloss work was either replaced or re-chromed during the restoration and all elements remain in excellent condition today with very little wear. Unfortunately, the original bonnet could not be saved and was supplied and replaced by CarPoint GmbH.

**Interior - **At the request of the last German owner, a completely new dark red leather interior replaced the original factory suede green and is now showing nice signs of the patina. Possibly the car's best feature, it is still in wonderful condition considering it has been 10 years and 10,000 miles since it was completed. A few tiny areas of age are evident now, but nothing dramatic. and it's hard to see. The contrasting light gray headliner and sun visors are in mint condition, built up with a few new features: a (new) radio and speakers work perfectly and a new wood/chrome Mota-Lita steering wheel has replaced the factory wheel. A discreet but visible red light on the driver's side of the dashboard indicates a remote immobilizer.

**Wheels, Tires & Brakes - **New chrome rims and tires were fitted in 2018 giving the car a real refreshment. Surprisingly, the restoration used the original wheels, so it was time to brighten up the corners with some new chrome and rubber. The chosen Vredestein Sprint Classic 205/70 VR 15 96 W tires still show a lot of good profile. Braided stainless steel brake lines were used in the restoration, which allows the car to go straight and stop nicely.

**Engine & Transmission - **We reiterate this is a matching numbers car. With the start of the restoration work in early 2011, the mileage at that time was just over 93,000 miles, with the engine block (#7E 6256-9) being in remarkable condition when opened, with no signs of wear on the pistons. Clearly a good oil service had been done during its American stay, so it was decided that if it wasn't broken it should be left alone. Of course, all the valves were reset with numerous other parts being replaced, all of which are listed in the car's comprehensive file. Transmission, rear axle and differential were also completely overhauled. The gear change itself is precise and it must be stressed that this is an older restoration and now some 10,000 miles and 10 years after it was completed it is an unmistakably cracker gem.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
