Car to be at auction 1/23
www.mecum.com/lots/FL0123-545413/1966-jaguar-e-type-series-i-fixed-head-coupe/

Auction description:
Lot K157.1 Kissimmee 2023 Jan 4-15

Chassis No. 1E31767
4.2L DOHC inline 6-cylinder engine
Triple sidedraft carburetors
4-speed manual gearbox
Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel
Smiths instrumentation
Lucas electrical system
British Racing Green with Biscuit leather interior
15-inch chrome knock-off wire wheels
This smartly presented British Racing Green 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixed Head Coupe from The Rick Grant III Estate Collection features the glorious full-house triple sidedraft carburetor setup used on its 4.2L DOHC inline 6-cylinder engine before U.S. emissions rules neutered imported versions with power-sapping twin carbs. It of course features the signature covered head lamps, while the wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel adds a flourish to the smart Biscuit leather interior featuring Smiths instrumentation.

It’s worth noting that the E-Type fixed head coupe was actually more expensive than its roadster counterpart with a list price in 1966 of $5,580, yet it was still sensational value compared to contemporary Aston Martins and Ferraris, which were more than double the price. That remarkable price-performance ratio still stacks up today.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
