This 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 coupe was imported to the US in 2021 and acquired by the current owner at a Houston Museum of Natural Science charity auction in 2025. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a five-speed manual transmission, and it is finished in Opalescent Silver Gray over red leather upholstery. Equipment includes air conditioning, glass-covered headlights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a stainless-steel dual exhaust system, and tubular exhaust headers. Work performed between 2022 and 2025 included rebuilding the engine and carburetors, installing the transmission, and overhauling the braking and aftermarket power steering systems. This E-Type coupe is now offered on dealer consignment by a BaT Local Partner with service records, a tool roll, and a clean Texas title.
The car was refinished in Opalescent Silver Gray under prior ownership. Exterior details include glass-covered headlights, wraparound chrome bumpers with overriders, a driver-side mirror, louvered hood vents, UK-style registration plates, and dual exhaust outlets. The reverse lamp assembly was replaced in 2025.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185-section Avon Radial Steel tires. A matching spare wheel and tire assembly is stowed beneath the load floor in the rear cargo area. The suspension features blue-bodied rear shock absorbers, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The aftermarket power steering pump was rebuilt in 2025, at which time the brake booster, brake master cylinder, and brake flex hoses were replaced.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with color-coordinated door panels, center console trim, and carpets. Appointments include air conditioning, a heater, a slide-down rearview mirror, toggle switches, and lap belts. The air conditioning system was serviced with replacement O-rings and recharged with R134a refrigerant in 2025. Additional work in 2025 included repairing the turn signal wiring and replacing the steering column horn contact.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 260-km/h speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are housed in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 40k kilometers (~25k miles). True mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt in 2022 by Specialty Car Solutions of Houston, Texas, with work involving machining the block, grinding the crankshaft, rebuilding the water pump, and installing replacement pistons, bearings, and timing components. The triple SU carburetors were also rebuilt at that time. Features include tubular exhaust headers, an upgraded alternator, and a Lucas ignition coil. The cooling fan switch, temperature gauge sender, ignition cap, and ignition rotor were replaced in 2023.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission that was installed in 2023. Additional work at that time included replacing the clutch, clutch master cylinder, and clutch slave cylinder. The differential pinion seal was replaced in 2025. A stainless-steel dual exhaust system is fitted.
A binder of service records dating back to 1995 is included in the sale along with a tool roll and a Dunlop brake bleeder.
