Car offered at:
www.e-typecenter.com/en/cars/1965-jaguar-e-type-4-2-fhc-original.html
Note complete VIN on this car is J651E30484
Sellers description:
This E-type was built on the 8th of January 1965 and dispatched on the 5th of February 1965 through Jaguar Cars, New York, USA to B A Berks Associates in the color combination of black with black interion trim. An original customer Car Purchase Order from Charles H. Hornburg JR. from Beverly Hills dated 26th of March 1965 is still with the car. It states the order for a new E-type Coupe in black with black trim with chrome wire wheels, tinted glass, front and rear guards, delivery and handling, seat belts and outside mirror for a total price of USD $6.489,84.
Great original Jaguar E-type, recently discovered barn-find after long term storage for 35 years. Now fully mechanical restored retaining the lovely original barn-find character of the car. Black with black interior trim. A great driving time capsule! Potential preservation class concours winner.
The original Manufacturer's Warranty Card shows the delivery from Charles H. Hornburg JR. on this date to its owner.
During 1974 the car was transferred to James Scott Strom from Los Alamitos, California and received registration 051 KRF. Registration cards including their original postage envelopes of 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 together with many parts and repair invoices are still with the car.
Probably not long after that the car was stored in a sea container in the Californian desert. In 2014 the car was discovered and taken out of its long term storage and saw daylight again after a period of some 35 years.
The car was then sold to The Netherlands, and the E-type Center who acquired it, performed a full mechanical restoration while retaining the original character of the car. For example the engine, carburetors, ignition, starter and dynamo were professionally rebuild without cleaning off the outside dirt and patina thereby retaining the original barn-find looks.
In the same way the car received a full gearbox, brake system, cooling system and front and rear suspension rebuild. With new battery, tires and exhaust the car is in ultimate safe and reliable driving condition.
Price: € 185.000

Sellers description:
Unique and very original `65 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 coupe. This car has possibly one of the most unusual histories in the world. After 35 years this car was found in a container in the middle of a Californian desert with 90.000 miles on the clock! The complete history from day 1 has been superbly preserved. The 1st and 2nd owners kept every document under the drivers` seat. Starting with the hand-written purchase contract, the various guarantees, many invoices dating back to the early 70`s, even the 1974 2nd owners' pink slip, really everything has been kept! It also has the original tool-bag and jack. We must admit that we have seldom seen a car with this much well preserved documentation. Even the salvage operation of the car out of the container has been extensively photographed with accompanying written commentary. Magnificent! B.A. Berks Associates in Santa Monica, CA bought the car itself on the 26th March 1965 from Charles H Horburg Jr of Beverly Hills. It had a black finish and black leather trim and came with factory-fitted chrome wire wheels, safety belts, bumper rosettes and an extra side mirror. In 1974, after 9 years, it was sold on to a Mr. James Scott Strom of Los Alamitos. When 40 years, later, in 2014, it arrived in Holland, the car underwent a full revision of the engine, transmission, rear axle, suspension, and braking system. The exterior aspect of all the parts that were revised was left untouched, adding lustre to the car's patina. Mechanically the car is in truly extraordinary condition. The bodywork is immaculate with straight and tightly fitting panels. After the body had been bare-metal sandblasted, the original black finish was re-applied. Again this whole process was documented with photos and invoices amounting to more than 55.000 euros. The finish and chrome details are, as one would expect, fantastic! The underbody did not need any attention and is straight and free form any signs of corrosion. Apart from the seats being professionally re-upholstered, the rest of interior is completely original. Naturally, this car has been certified by Jaguar Heritage and has matching numbers engine and gearbox. A mechanically perfect car and the many original features are, in our opinion, the ultimate combination, especially when one considers its` unique provenance. What a car, what an intriguing history!
