I purchased the car from Auto Collectors Garage in Houston, Texas in November 2008. The car has receipts for over $24,000 for work undertaken to bring it back to a nice driver level following its 11 year ownership from the previous owners. Car was bought and cleaned up for re-sale by Auto Collectors Garage. The engine area has been completely detailed. New porcelain on headers, cylinder head removed an new hardened seats valves etc. etc. etc. Car is very nice and original however the paint work has some chips in a few places. Extra fan installed on the front of the stone guard to aid in cooling for our hot Florida summers. Interior leather on the seats is new as are the carpets. Steering wheel original but needs some work at the wood is split. Car has 37,700 miles from new and has minimal rust issues. Most of the mechcanical restoration / rebuilding work is of a good quality, but some of the minor attention to detail work has been poorly finished by a previous owner. All in all a very clean, solid and original example ready to hit the roads and be driven.

1E30214 looks like it was manufactured in November 1964......... and was the 214th LHD 4.2 FHC off the production line. It is registered as a 1965 with its Texas title. Quite a rare car indeed. I will apply for a heritage certificate to see if this info is correct.

    Hi Richard,
isn't that the the wrong colour? Your garage is going to burst some day, but your taste is fine . . . Bill

    2009-01-31 08:17:06 | Anonymous writes:

I had taken the car for a first major road test since receiving it and I was very impressed with the smooth engine, great middle range torque and fantastic 76.5 degree tempurature (ran a digital thermometer check up). Oil pressure gauge claims 50lbs and I have not checked that yet as I see no need to...... no oil leaks from engine area. No rattles, squeaks or groans to report from the car or me for that matter. One disappointment was that the rear hubs seals were obvioulsy shot when I was sold the car and after the road test I need to replace both of those for each rear hub with a complete new set and clean off all the grease from the previously detailed under-carriage. All the replacement parts have since been purchased from Xk's Unlimited and waiting for a quiet weekend to take off the hubs and install them. There was a small gas leak in the pipe joins around the fuel tank area which has also been addressed. Just in case, I will take out the gas tank and check it thoroughly over that long weekend..........................

Bill - I am looking for a larger garage with a smaller house attached and the wife is looking for me to sell a car..........

    2009-03-28 10:34:54 | Richard Creber writes:

Well good news and the long weekend which evolved into a month has finally come to an end. The fuel leak was just a perished rubber fuel hose right where it was affixed to the fuel tank. Therefore, it was just a quick replacement pipe and new breather pipe and hey presto............. fuel leak fixed. We did take the fuel tank out for inspection and it was surprisingly very clean. I assume the previous owner must have done the right thing after its long storeage. Phew !

The rear seals were replaced, as were the rear bearings (better to be safe than sorry) and the half drive shafts were replaced due to historic grease monkey cross threading issues. So another $1K plus dollars in parts and labor and this CAT drives like a dream !

    2009-06-11 18:10:26 | Richard Creber writes:

A new low pressure facet fuel pump was installed at the beginning of June 2009 and it has made a huge difference. Fuel tank clean as a whistle........ this cat now roars along.

1E30214 is moving to a new custodian as from November 2009. The beautiful BRG coupe is leaving the garage and heading north to VA and a new owner.

This 1965 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that was produced in November 1964 and distributed new through Jaguar Cars of New York. The car is finished in green over black leather upholstery and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes triple SU side-draft carburetors, covered headlights, a side-opening rear hatch, 15″ chrome wire wheels, a Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Blaupunkt push-button AM/FM radio. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2009, although the selling dealer notes it has been stored for approximately five years. Work performed in preparation for the sale is said to have included adjusting the carburetors. This Series I XKE coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, a tool kit, spare parts, and a Virginia title.

The car was repainted green under previous ownership. Exterior details include recessed headlights with clear covers, split chrome bumpers with guards, a vented forward-hinged hood, a sloping roofline with a side-opening hatch, and taillights mounted above the rear bumpers. Paint is chipping around the edges of the doors, scratches are present on the wheel arches, bubbling is present on the lower body.

Chrome 15” center-spline wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and wear Coker Classic tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear units.

The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black leather accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional appointments include a cabin heater, a padded center armrest, a rear package shelf, and a Blaupunkt push-button AM/FM radio linked to speakers on either side of the center stack. Corrosion is noted on the passenger-side floor pan.

The Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges for water temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and amperage are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles, approximately 5k of which have been added under current ownership.

The twin-cam 4.2L inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The carburetors were adjusted in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers along with the build date and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York.

The car number on the chassis plate is listed as 30214. The Virginia title bears an Odometer Brand of “Exempt.”
