Car to be at auction 7/15
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 168 - 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Litre Fixedhead Coupe
Estimate: £78,000 - £85,000
Registration Number: LBN 114F
Chassis Number: 1E21732

This car was manufactured on 11th December 1967 and dispatched on the 18th to Henlys Ltd. of Manchester, and transferred to Parkers of Bolton on 23rd January 1968. This fine example of Jaguar's legendary E-Type is finished in its original colour combination of Carmen red with a black hide interior.

The car underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2013 by specialists MC Automotive in High Wycombe with invoices totalling £44,000.

Work included: body completely stripped down and repaired; fitment of power steering; front brake upgrade; new competition chrome wire wheels fitted; new fuel pump; and refurbishment of fuel tank. Other improvements include seat leather replaced, new body rubber kit, new wiring loom, new halogen headlamps, refurbishment of switches, as well as much other work which is catalogued in the accompanying file.

In February 2014 the car underwent a thorough service and shakedown - to the cost of £6,916 - by Southern Classics of Twickenham. Supplied with a UK V5 document, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate and bills for the aforementioned work. The 4.2-litre Series I is regarded as the ultimate E-Type, with this a particularly fine example.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
