This 1967 Jaguar 'E' Type 4.2 fixed head coupe was rebuilt some ten years ago and a Series III, deseamed bonnet, wings and rear wheel arch flares were fitted, as can be seen from the photograph of the car above.
At the same time it also had a complete engine rebuild by Road and Race Restorations of Little Hulton, and upon our inspection we have to say the car sounded very well. In the present owner's possession for the last three years he has spent over two thousand pounds on maintenance including the fitment of new tyres, an overhaul of the braking system, new shock absorbers, new centre exhaust system and the replacing of all the water hoses. It comes with a large documented history file confirming many of the previous owners, there is also a Heritage certificate from Jaguar and Daimler, and we are informed the car travelled down to Goodwood in June and proved to be very reliable with no hiccups whatsoever.
This sale presents a rare opportunity to acquire an 'E' Type Jaguar at a sensible price and as the car is currently road taxed the lucky new owner can enjoy driving it away from today's sale.

    The car

    Back Ground to the car.

The car was initially sold by a dealership in Rossliegh,Edinburgh in 1967 then spending most of it's life in the Northwest

The car then passing through 6 more keeper when in 1989, the modifications to the bonnet including de seaming the bonnet, modifying the front and rear arches to take wider wheel s, the removal of the chrome to achieve the streamlined appearance ,the car then was then sold again in 1995 the car then having only two more keepers in the last 17 years, the last keeper a Wrexham garage proprietor owning her for 13 years ,purchasing the car from H&H Classic car auction at Buxton ,as he said saw the car and thought wow! The beauty of the shape in pure simplicity .

6 years ago he took her off the road to carryout work to the vehicle including replacing the drivers floor section ,he then decided to do the passenger side as well along with lots of other mechanical work, and fit the wide D Type Alloy Knock on's due to pressure of work the E type had take a back seat and remained in storage, albeit properly look after waxoyled, wheels off, water drained ,engine oiled and turned over regulary.and stored in a dehumidified environment.

It was to stay like this until I came on the scene!

The car was then shipped down to Herefordshire ,where we carried out the following ,

    Fit new radiator

    ,Kenlowe fan,

    Both front upper ball joints,

Remove all calipers including swinging hand brake calliper's replace seals as required reassemble .

    Replace copper brake line.

Fit Accuspark electronic ignition, new coil and plugs

    New battery

Rebuild Carburettors with new float needles

Oil and oil filter /air filter

    Re fit bonnet,

    Rewire headlamps ,

Re fit interior and centre console.

    MOT

Finally some localised paint to chips on the sills .

It was quite amazing actually, when we fitted the engine ancillaries ,overhauled the carbs ,fuel, oil and watered her ,fitted the battery. first push of the ignition button after six years dormant she stared first time!

    So condition of the car.

I will be as critical as I can ,

    Bodywork:

Just one word' lovely ! considering some 46 years old, she is excellent , the door shut lines the "A" Pillars /"B" Slams ,floor sections ,sills ( inner and outer)front spider frames ,doors ,rear wings ,valances, bulkheads ,all excellent ,in fact the only thing that I can see is a slight little mark on the bonnet bulge ,but nothing that really detracts from the over majesty of the car.

    Paintwork:

The overall appearance is lovely with marvellous depth of shine ,whilst not perfect ,in my humble opinion ( and the thoughts of others) think it is wonderful as it is certainly does not have any issues that I can see that require attention.

    Drive Train .

Well the jewel in the crown of the Jaguar is the wonderful XK unit and this particular one is an excellent standard bearer for the breed ,with quite valve gear , turbine smooth in operation ,no overheating problems and plenty of grunt !

    Gearbox:

Very good ,with no synchro problems and excellent change.

    Differential:

Excellent ,no knocking joints or wind up.

    Brakes |:

Excellent" all replaced along with master cylinder, servo ,so require a bit of a push on the pedal until bedded in .

    Exhaust.

    All good

    Wheels /Tyres

Excellent 72 spoke chrome and recent spinners, tyres like new.

    Interior:

Stunning! With just the right amount of patina, head lining ,door cards, seating, carpets ,crash pad, centre console etc wonderful.

    Electrics:

At the time of writing :all working bar for the original radio.

    Anything to do?

The window winder gear on the passenger side needs attention and that is it

    What would I do"

Fit wide rim Dunlop knock on alloy wheels, and that would be it !
