For sale at Historics auction July 2017
historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2017-07-08/cars/ref-32-1968-jaguar-etype-series- ...

1968 Jaguar E-Type Series I½ Roadster
Registration WGJ70G
Chassis Number 1E2140
Engine Number 7E182979
Odometer reading 16,881 miles
Estimate £45,000 - £55,000

This original righthand drive E-Type Series 1½ Roadster was built on 3rd July, 1968 and despatched on 15th August with Henlys of London being the original dealer with first registration on 27th August 1968. Purchased by the current vendor on 3rd July, 1993 from Eagle Racing, pre-cursor to Eagle E-Types, the bill of sale in the file shows £25,000 was paid by the vendor shortly after it had undergone a restoration three years earlier in 1990. During his ownership, it has been well loved but depending on your point of view, could benefit from a tidy up and if so it is worth noting, from the supplied Heritage Certificate, the original colour was silver grey. Equally it can be left and enjoyed as it is. Supplied with an MoT test certificate valid until May 2018 with no advisories, the car also comes with all MoT test certificates dating back to the current owner's tenure and a bundle of documents relating to the restoration carried out in 1990 by Sherwood Restorations Ltd. and Chris Oates Ltd. A very genuine example of the much sought-after righthand drive, desirable Series I½ Roadster.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
