Car offered at auction in '00, info at:
www.classicauctions.co.uk/car_search_index.html

Auction description:
Status NOT SOLD
Estimate £14000 - 16000
Mileage 120000
Colour PRIMROSE
Trim Colour BLACK
Chassis No 1E20872
Engine No 7E51329
Registration FYO371C
CC 4200
M.O.T APRIL 2000
One of the definitive classic cars of all times must be the Jaguar 'E' Type 4.2 Coupe and this 1965 original right hand drive car was first supplied new by Henleys in November 1965. Since then it is believed to have only had five owners, with one of the owners listing every penny spent on the car, and the present owner bought the car in 1989.
Since then it has undergone a complete rebuild, which was carried out by the vendor over the next four years, and he spent in excess of ú10000 on parts alone. The car has been described to us as being in excellent order throughout and in fact it was resprayed again only a few months ago as it has received a few dents and scratches over the intervening years.
There are very few good examples of this model available at the moment and this is being sold with a large history file containing the invoices for the restoration, a letter from one of the past owners, and a newspaper article showing the car after its restoration with the present owner.
One not to be missed.
Please note: This car was declared as having a full 12 months MOT. In fact the vendor has not had time to complete this and so it expires in April this year.

Car was again presented for auction in Feb, '04, info at:
www.classicauctions.co.uk/car_search_index.html

Status SOLD
Estimate £20000 - 22000
Hammer Price £18500.00
Mileage 23474
Colour PRIMROSE YELLOW
Trim Colour BLACK
Chassis No 1E 20872
Engine No 7E 51329
Registration FYO371C

M.O.T FEB 2005
This E Type is an original righthand drive Series 1 4.2-litre coupe which was first registered 2 November 1965. Inspection of the very comprehensive set of documents with the car records ownership history going back thirty years with much correspondence with previous owners on file as well as copies of previous logbooks, old tax discs and many bills detailing work carried out. Restoration work in the late 1980s and early 1990s would certainly appear to have been extensive with the bodyshell taken back to bare metal and the refurbishment exceeding ú15,000.
On file are bills for...renewing inner and outer wheelarches as well as various panels and engine machining work in 1989; supply of new bonnet in 1990; repainting body and renewing wiring loom, rear lights and other electrical items as well as exhaust system in 1991; engine rebuild 9000 miles ago in 1993; and retrim materials and new rear brake discs in 2001.
Having been purchased in September 2000, FYO 371C then formed the centrepiece of a small private collection and comes to market directly from heated storage. Currently, the Primrose Yellow paintwork is described as excellent and much of the black interior has been retrimmed. Old MOTs confirm that this RHD S1 E fixed head has been driven just 9000 miles since restoration.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has the uprated brakes and cooling system and is fitted with Koni shock absorbers all round. It also has a lovely history which should be viewed prior to the sale and we have recently been contacted by the gentleman who restored it some years ago and he has photographs of the rebuild to the successful purchaser if he requires them.

Registration Number: FYO 371C
Chassis Number: IE20872
Engine Number: 7E51329
History:
The second Series 1 4.2 litre fixed head E-Type in our sale, this lovely RHD car was first registered on 2nd November 1965. An extensive file with the car charts its history over the past 30 years, including previous log books, tax discs and MOT certificates.

Invoices for an extensive restoration in the late 1980s and early 1990s total over ?15,000 and cover a total bodyshell rebuild from bare metal including replacement inner and outer wheelarches and a new bonnet. Koni shock absorbers were fitted all round, the cooling and brake systems upgraded and the car was rewired and overhauled electrically throughout. Finally the engine was rebuilt in 1993, since when less than 10,000 miles have been covered.

In September 2000 the car was purchased by the present owner who has used it gently, maintained it regardless of expense and kept it in heated accommodation as the centre piece of his private collection. The whole car is still in lovely condition, with superb Primrose Yellow coachwork and excellent panel fit. Most of the black leather interior is original and is in good condition throughout.

Taxed and MOT'd, this is a very desirable example of the highly sought after Series 1 version of the E-Type coupe, in excellent running order with a long and comprehensive history that is ready to use and enjoy.
