www.coys.co.uk/cars/1968-jaguar-e-type-series-1-5-roadster-2

Auction description:
ESTIMATE £80,000- £90,000
Auction True Greats 2017
Lot Number 129
Reg. Number UK Registered
Chassis Number 1E 2045
Year 1968
Make Jaguar
Model E-Type Series 1.5 Roadster
This wonderfully presented example rolled off the production line on March 19th 1968 and was offered at Jaguar main Dealer Henlys of London. The current vendor acquired the car in 1983 as the fourth owner and in 1989 the car was treated to a meticulous restoration including a bare metal respray and much mechanical work which is documented in the history file with many bills and invoices of parts as well as pictures of the restoration process.

During the vendors ownership the car has been used regularly including many tours throughout Europe and such there have been a number of important upgrades added to this example. Uprated front (4 pot) and rear (3 pot) brake callipers, Kenlowe radiator fan and the desirable five speed Tremec T5 gearbox. Presented in the original midnight blue and black leather interior the car is fitted with its original engine as well as a Jaguar factory hood. The body presents very well with no rust and still wears the body tag which is presented at the rear of the car. The panel fittings are good and the paintwork shows very few minor blemishes.

The comprehensive history file includes invoices for all work that has been carried out in the vendors ownership including full Mot history dating back to 1983. In good all-round condition this highly original example is ready to use and is offered with an MoT until April 2018 and the original matching gearbox.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
