Data plate said to be 3.8L, cut out to show a second data plate underneath that shows the 4.2 synchro tranny lubricants.

This is my car, who is Paul?
And who added it to the database ?

Hi Barry, Paul is a nice guy in the US of A, he collects a lot of E-type info found somewhere in the web and adds it here. That is rather the purpose of this site. If you can add some info on your very interesting early 4.2 FHC and the differences to *most* other 4.2's that would be just great. Cheers, Pekka T. (FIN, 1E76372BW)

Ah, I wondered who it was.
I think I may have the oldest 4.2 in the UK now.
It is in really good condition, I'm going to prep and paint it this year hopefully so fingers crossed.
I do need some old light blue seat covers, scrap ones that someone has replaced would be perfect actually so I can have mine patched..
A rat got inside at some stage and had a munch at the left seat.
More to follow!!

Just to add this is a fully numbers matching car. Having checked the Originality guide all features check out as an October 1964 built car.

Restoration well underway now.
Car stripped an on a rotisserie. Metalwork even better than hoped.

Onwards and upwards...

I owned FHC 1E30036 for many years (1982--98) and it had the same "editing" done with tin snips on its data plate. I've often wondered which car was the last to have this done. Nice to see another very early 4.2 doing well. Wish I still had '036....

Hi there Barry
I live in Australia and I have a very early 4.2 FHC as well..... However I did not get it in an original state and therefore am unsure of a lot of the detail on these pre 65 built cars..... Are you in a position to help me with any further detailed photos of your car before restoration
Many thanks
Lucas

Hi Lucas.
Nice to hear about another 4.2 on the way back to health.
No problem at all with details. I have very detailed photos of the whole car. It's still under restoration so it's an ongoing project.
What do you need?
Barry.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
