    Ebay item 8/20/08
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-E-TYPE-1968-JAGUAR-XKE-ROADSTER-True-1-Fam ...
Current bid $11,211 reserve not met, 3 bids, 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $110,000.

    Sellers description:
I am the original owner of the car. It was purchased from North Country Motors on Long Island. Purchase date of the car: It is on the Warranty Service Card, Sept. 24, 1968 and has been in our family to date. In 1973 I sold the car to my mother but it was returned to me in 1999. While various repairs had been done to the car over the years, by the early 90's it needed a complete redo. My mother had been secretary of the Jaguar Club on Long Island and had decided she wanted to show the car.

It underwent a complete ground up two year restoration which began with the premise that the car was going to be entered in Jaguar Concours and that it was expected to win!!!

The body was stripped and reworked. Any rust was removed, and the car was repainted in the original Light Blue color. The engine was completely redone and upgraded to stainless steel valves with hardened seats so it would run correctly with unleaded gas. The wheels were sent to Dayton Wire Wheel for a rebuild and we upgraded to polished stainless steel spokes at that time. All subsystems were completely rebuilt including cooling, brakes, steering and suspension. A complete new interior was installed including the correct leather seats except for the dashboard and toggle switches. The dashboard gauges and instruments are original. The steering wheel was restored to new condition. A new clutch was installed at that time.

After the restoration, I was present for its first Concours on Long Island. It took first in its class.

The miles on the odometer (53,506) are accurate for the 40 years the car has been owned. I doubt the car even has 500 miles on it since the restoration. It was taken on a trailer to the shows. Driven off to its judging position and back onto the trailer. Longest drive I'm aware of is from Port Jeff to Amagansett, Long Island. From 1998 to 2004 it was stored in a heated garage. Since the restoration the car has never seen a raindrop.

Last winter, the car received a mechanical check over from Georgica Services in East Hampton. The exhaust manifolds were re-porcelained, the carburetors were rebuilt, and the car was tuned and serviced.

I live in California and I have equipment and documentation here that will be sold with the car. I've tracked down the original two sets of keys that say "Made in England" on them. I also have many show score sheets and articles from 'E-Jag' Magazine where the show winners were announced. I've found some issues of Jaguar Journal both from the National ranking level and individual shows to document our show history.

The last time the car was in a Concours was 1998. It came in first in its class with a point total of 99.71 at the JC of Southern New England Show held in Plainville, Ct. June 21, 1998. The results were published in the Journal January/February 1999 issue of The Jaguar Journal. I know the car was ranked as high as 2nd on a national level. Unfortunately, I have not been able to come up with the Jaguar Journal Issue to document it. I have other years that show where it was 3rd and 4th but not the 2nd.

The tools: I have the show set and the top cover in San Diego. These items will also be included in the sale.
