Above auction description:
A mere 2,387 of these curious, almost hybrid machines were built to left hand drive Roadster specification, and the example offered here was built just 190 units before the last. In its third ownership since new, it showed fewer than 77,500 miles when inspected by a Christie's specialist, and boasts a full tonneau cover as well as the original tools and jack.

The paint was renewed towards the beginning of the 1980s and a stainless steel exhaust was fitted recently. Toggle switches adorn the dashboard, and this may well be an original feature, since the new-style rockers were not universal at this point. Not original is the more natural triple carburetion which has been refitted under the bonnet (hood). In all, this charismatic car is presented in well cared-for condition, and is said to drive and run well.

Did not sell, failed to fetch $40,000. reserve at Christie's Greenwich auction 6/4/2006. Inspection showed a good driver with several non-original features.

A friend of mine purchased this car in Feb.2009 in Dover TN. It had 77,471 mi. on it. We clean the carbs and installed new plugs. 350 miles later in still runs great. Had to replace clutch slave cyl. two weeks ago.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
