Car offered for sale at:

Note, it is assumed the the "G" provided in the sellers description of the VIN is actually a "6". If this would be correct for the model year and type. If it is proven to be incorrect (or validated) please contact the webmaster.

Sellers description:
Condition: Good
Details
The 1 ½ had significant changes made to it such as: open headlights, an altered bonnet, a re-designed door, two carburetors, rocker switches on dash, a wing mirror on the driver’s door, hazard warning lights and the steering column was modified. The series 11/2 still had the small tail lights on the rear of the car. This Jaguar is a very nice, well maintained, unmolested, California original, two owner car with old pink slip, and special blue license plates.

Car was at auction 8/06
http://www.rmauctions.com/AuctionResults.cfm?SaleCode=MO06#

Auction description:
Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction - Friday, August 18, 2006 - Saturday, August 19, 2006
1968 Jaguar Series I 1/2 E-Type Roadster
LOT: 186
ESTIMATE: $100,000 - $120,000
CHASSIS NO: J681E16119
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $90,750

Engine No. 7E14696-9
Gearbox No. EE1320
Body No. 4E8089

The E-Type roadster presented here is an early 1968 model, it is one of the few E-Types that are today popularly known as Series I 1/2 cars as they utilize the open headlight bonnets but are otherwise are very similar to the Series I cars retaining the very favorable 4.2 liter engine. This Jaguar is a California original car with only two owners since new and it comes with the small California pink slip. Just in time for the auction the car was treated to a comprehensive cosmetic restoration and mechanical service by a Jaguar marque specialist, Classic Showcase.

During the process of this restoration the vehicle was body worked and fitted, all body parts painted separately, painted in base coat, clear coat, color sanded and buffed to the spectacular finish you see today. The interior was refurbished meticulously as well as the assembly of the vehicle. Finished in opalescent silver-gray metallic with a dark blue interior, fully detailed, in top mechanical condition and freshly restored, this Jaguar is ready for anything. The question then becomes what to do with an E-Type truly in its prime?

Addendum
Please note that the serial number for this car is J681E16119.

very sure that she has a wrong bonnet! And even with a good right one the car should be around US$ 50k max. from what I see so far and not have and estimate twice as high as in the auction.
