I am the second owner and purchased the car on 8/23/70. It has the original factory hard top. It was repainted in 1977 in a 1977 Cadillac color, "Damson Plum Firemist." It is close to the original color which I think was Opalescent Maroon. Other than maintenance replacements (e.g. the soft top) it is original.

Hi , i own 1E 16084 , which is Opalescent Maroon , i would be interested to know if your car was also originally the same colour , or just straight Maroon , your car may have been built on the same day as mine ?

Opening bid US $39,950, no reserve, no bids 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
I have owned this Jaguar for 44 years. I am the second owner and purchased it in 1970. It was my daily driver until 1976. Since then it has been used for pleasure drives in clear weather. It has never been in an accident. It has matching engine, gearbox and body numbers. It is in essentially original condition. It was repainted in 1977 and the soft top was replaced in 1975. It has an electronic Pertronix Ignitor II distributor (I will also provide the original distributor.). It also has a factory hard top with all the chrome and a clear rear window. It has been driven very little for the last 10 years. It has a clutch that is not engaging properly, plus other defects that are detailed below. I believe it could rather easily be returned to a daily driver status, and it is an excellent basis for a full restoration.

I have always enjoyed driving, maintaining and working on this Jaguar. However, I am now 72 years old and it's time to pass it along to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.

Following is a detailed description. I have tried to describe the condition as clearly as possible, both the positives and the negatives. I will also provide links to 124 photos which show more of the interior, exterior, engine compartment, trunk, underside, hard top, soft top and manuals.

Positives:
The Series 1.5 Has the same exterior styling of the earlier E-Types, except for the open headlights for better night vision.

Matching numbers (original engine, transmission, etc.).

Never in an accident.

Always garaged since 1971.

Original factory hard top with clear window, all chrome pieces and mounting hardware. It is in excellent condition except for some dull spots in the black paint. (A top alone in this condition sold on eBay for $10,099 on 2/26/12 (Item No. 370587008897)).

Original jack, wheel tool and pouch.

Original Owner's Manual and Maintenance Vouchers.

All maintenance receipts.

Soft top is excellent (replaced in 1975) except for one interior cloth piece described below.

Glass is excellent (the windshield was replaced in 1986).

New mufflers.

Clear title (Washington State).

NO RESERVE.

Known problems:
Clutch failed August 2014 (It sometimes engages, usually not. I believe the problem is hydraulic, but it could be mechanical)

Minor oil drip from the engine.

Dent below driver's door (fell off jack).

Temperature gauge and clock don't work.

Split (3 inch) in the Leather driver's seat.

Paint is cracked between the windshield and the hood (see photo on Exterior link.) There are other paint chips.

The chrome is in very good condition except for a couple places on the bumpers that have a slight "milky" appearance. It doesn't show in photos or at a short distance.

The chrome on the hood (bonnet) was not removed when it was repainted. If you look closely, there is paint buildup in places.

The cloth on the soft top header panel (interior above windshield when erected) is torn and needs replacing.

All fluids need to be drained, flushed & replaced.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
