This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 roadster was built in March 1967 and sold to the first owner in Dayton, Ohio, in October of that year. The current owner purchased it in 1969 while serving in the US Air Force, after which the car spent time in both England and Spain before returning to the US in the mid-1980s. Finished in British Racing Green over beige leather, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is also equipped with a black soft top, a soft top boot, sealed-beam open headlights, triple SU carburetors, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, and a Blaupunkt radio. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered on dealer consignment with numerous trophies from three decades as well as a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, a tool kit, service records, spare parts, and a clean New Hampshire title.
The body has been refinished in British Racing Green, and the black soft top was replaced in 2003. This example is equipped with open sealed-beam headlamps along with a black top boot, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. Records indicate that the floor pans were repaired in 1982.
The 15″ wire wheels are replacement units secured by two-eared knock-offs and are wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in 2022. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The right-front upper control arm and the front upper and lower ball joints were replaced in 2022. The seller notes the removed wire wheels will accompany the car.
The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in beige leather in 1997 and are accompanied by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a Blaupunkt tri-band radio, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 48k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The included records indicate the engine and transmission were rebuilt in 1985. The water pump was replaced in 2019, and the oil was changed in 2022.
The cylinder head stamp reads 7E12906-9, which corresponds with the engine number noted on the Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.
The Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
