Ebay item 7/7/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $75,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 7 days left in auction. Buy it now price $125,000. 29k miles.

Sellers description:
Mid-1967 was the end of an era, the covered-headlamp Series I E-type. This 4.2 liter roadster, purchased from an Indiana woman and a long-standing (second) owner, is simply the most coveted E-type made- very fast, more refined, comfortable and drivable than the first 3.8 models; but not yet smogged and emasculated by EPA regulations which compromised the appearance of later cars. Claret (dark burgundy)/ black leather (which smells brand new). Original mileage. This car was completely disassembled and every nut and bolt was replaced by Jaguars Unlimited in Highland Park, IL, one of several top-tier Jaguar restoration shops in the nation, from 2003 to 2006. (See their regular ads in "Hemmings Motor News." ) About 600 miles since then on sunny weekends. Car has never been parked anywhere outside of my garage. Many, many upgrades. Complete new mechanical replacement and cosmetics. There was literally no expense spared. A restoration of this quality, including a clean and straight Series I restorable roadster, would cost upwards of $225,000.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
