Car Condition: Show Driver Level This E-type was manufactured in October of 1966 and has been a 2 owner car. It was originally a Northern California car and was owned by a JCNA member that was part of the San Francisco, JAG Club. The second owner was also a member of the JAG Club, a JCNA certified judge and good friends with the original owner. The second owner knew the history of the vehicle before he purchased the car and even helped the original owner replace the clutch. After purchasing the car, the second owner moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and had the car repainted, installed new leather interior and continued to maintain the car throughout the years to ensure that it stayed in good running and aesthetic condition. Before the new paint was completed, the engine and transmission were removed to give the car a high quality paint job. The car features wing vent windows and a Tonneau and boot cover. For better performance, the radiator was upgraded to an aluminum radiator with an auxiliary cooling fan and 6x15 wire wheels were installed. It also comes with the original tool kit and owner's manual. This great driver is a wonderful core car to take to a higher level and Classic Showcase has plans to bring it to a Show/Driver level this year.

Car to be at auction 2/12

    Sale 19680 - The Scottsdale Sale, 19 Jan 2012
    Arizona, Scottsdale
    Lot No: 313
    1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2-Liter Series 1 Roadster
    Chassis no. 1E13662
    Engine no. 7E10521-9
    *4.2-liter inline six-cylinder
*Last of the Series 1 models
    *Four-speed manual transmission
    *Original California Car
    *Comprehensive, fully documented refurbishment
    *Spectacular color combination
    *Engine rebuilt to factory specs

This maroon 1967 XK-E 4.2 OTS ("open two-seater") was manufactured in October 1966 and sold new in northern California; the original owner was a Jaguar Club of North America member who also belonged to the San Francisco JAG Club. The second owner was a JCNA certified judge and good friends with the original owner. Nonetheless, Classic Showcase gave this XK-E a show/driver-level restoration to allow another 45 years of enjoyment.

The body was stripped to bare metal and placed on a rotisserie, prepared for primer, sealer, paint, base coat, and clear coat, then color-sanded and buffed to the lustrous finish that you see today. But, as you can imagine, a lot was done in-between. The motor and transmission were rebuilt to factory specifications, with the 4.2 machined, hot-tanked, and magnafluxed. All internal components including rings, bearings, timing chain, and water pump were replaced, followed by new gaskets and seals. The head was completely dissembled and machined; new valves and bearing were fitted. All systems including electrical, hydraulic, cooling, and fuel were restored or replaced.

Underneath, a new and authentic exhaust system was installed to restore the Jaguar's raspy roar, and the gas tank has been epoxy-sealed and painted. Inside, the XK-E has received a complete new custom-tailored and -fit interior in the correct materials. The top bows were restored, and a new top was fitted and installed along with a boot cover.

This fabulous XK-E 4.2, in its spectacular color combination and with only 100 miles under its belt, is ready for a new enthusiast to enjoy. A DVD of the restoration process will accompany this vehicle.

    Estimate: US$135,000 - 155,000

Very attractive and well presented overall

According to its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, this Series 1 4.2-Litre roadster was originally supplied via Jaguar Cars of New York, dispatched on 21 October 1966. Having reportedly remained in the hands of Jaguar enthusiasts since new, it was then restored by the noted Classic Showcase of Oceanside, California, including properly prepared bodywork, a complete new interior, a full rebuild of the transmission and motor including replacement head, and a new and authentic exhaust system. The E-Type was also fitted with an upgraded five-speed transmission for comfortable touring, but does include its original four-speed unit. Showing 88,119 miles at the time of cataloguing, it remains in beautiful overall condition in its Opalescent Maroon–over-black-leather livery, with chrome wire wheels, and would be a perfect E-Type for any enthusiast to enjoy.
