Car to be at auction 7/10
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

Auction description:
Lot 333
Registration Number: EFD 454C
Chassis Number: 1E1292

Purchased by the long term owner in 1982, just after the car underwent a concours restoration at great expense from Strattons for £14,000, this 4.2 litre Roadster has been maintained in fine condition ever since and covered around 8,000 miles in the first 10 years of his ownership. Contained within the history file as well as a V5 document and old tax discs are approximately 12 old MoT certificates with the earliest dating back to 1988 with a recorded mileage of 7,887 miles; the most recent recording a mileage of only 14,308 miles. Described by the vendor as being in good condition throughout, this well maintained and lightly used E-Type is a model from the first and most sought-after series and represents excellent value for money for anybody looking to acquire one of these legendary sports cars.

Estimate: £25000 - £30000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
