Desirable covered headlight, full synchromesh, 4.2 Litre Roadster. Straight, solid, dry climate car sold new in California. Few miles on rebuilt engine by marquee specialist. Matching numbers- engine block and head to chassis. Sparkling chrome wires. Records for over $17,000 in mechanical work. Very nice driver presentation including original leather interior. A strong running, tight, responsive example of the E-Type most desirable year.

Sellers description (same sellers as above):
    1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster
    s/n 1E12897, Engine no. 7E8749-9
    Cream with Black Leather
This particular car is a solid and dry example that has been in California with the same owner for over 25 years. It is a matching numbers example that has covered very few miles in recent years. Less than 1,000 miles ago, a full engine rebuild was completed, and the carburetors were also rebuilt. A new heater core and top were also installed. The total cost was over $15,000, and there are records back to the late 1980’s indicating regular maintenance.

The car is in nice cosmetic condition, with a good quality repaint on solid body panels. The bonnet fit is particularly good one this example. The chrome is possibly original and is showing some haze and light pitting. The chrome wire wheels are in nice shape and wear Michelin tires. The glass and lights are nice throughout, and the car still
has Lucas headlamps, in addition to European front turn signal lenses.

The interior appears to be largely original, including much of the leather on the seats. The dashboard is very nice, and instruments are excellent. The carpets are in very good shape, and the steering wheel is quite nice as well. There is a full tonneau cover, in addition to a top boot.

The engine compartment and trunk are both solid throughout, and are unrestored in appearance. There are some areas of aging, but both speak with honesty to the car’s solidity and overall feeling of originality. The engine and head number both match the chassis number, and the overall feel of the car is that of a fundamentally unmolested and well looked after car. The car runs and drives very well.

This is a great opportunity to acquire a properly maintained and solid example of the most desirable year E-Type. It has been in California with a long term owner for many years, and has a certain honesty and patina that recalls the days when these cars were actually used. This car run drives very nicely, and would be an ideal example to drive and enjoy. Accompanying the car are the original tool roll with tools, knock off hammer, and jack.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
