Car to be at auction 7/14
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auction description:
Lot 362 - 1966 Jaguar E-type Series 1 4.2 Litre Roadster
Estimate: £80,000 - £90,000
Registration Number: EU Taxes Paid
Chassis Number: 1E11668
Chassis 1E11668 is a matching number 4.2 Roadster that was delivered new to the USA and has spent the majority of its life in the warm sunny states of America. The subject of a recent significant restoration, the car is reported to be in 'stunning' overall condition. The work, documentation, pictures and invoices are available in the car's file. Naturally a Jaguar Heritage sertificate will be supplied with car documents.
Work included stripping the car to bear metal with the body off, and restored and rebuilt to a detailed/very high level. Even the primer used is generally used in ship building and it's 5 time more corrosion resitant to salt and humidity. The underside of the car was then painted in body colour and lacqure.
The Engine, gear box and diferential was completely di-assembled , inspected, cleaned and rebuilt. All suspension elements, including joints, sealings, bearings, parts were all replaced with new ones. A detailed list of works are availble in the car file. Since the restoration it has covered a mere 500 miles, with no apparent leaks or reported problems.
The interior has also been subject to renovation, and now benefits from the fitment of a mohair hood, front panels, dash, sills, doors and central console re-fitted with genuine leather which greatly improves the overall feel of the interior.
Complete with a delighful vintage period suitcase and luggage rack, this wonderful restored example is for the collector and would be a welcome addition to any significant collection.
