This 1965 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2018 following a refurbishment completed under prior ownership. Work completed from 2016 to 2018 by Muncie Imports & Classics Inc. of Indiana included refinishing the body, re-plating chrome components, refreshing the interior, and re-wiring the electrical system. The car is finished in Pale Primrose Yellow over black leather upholstery, and power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, the former of which was overhauled prior to 2013. Additional equipment includes 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a black convertible top, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and a RetroSound AM/FM radio as well as a PerTronix ignition system and a Howe aluminum radiator with a CoolCat cooling fan. Service in 2022 included replacing sheet metal in front of the left floor panel, replacing the cooling fan switch, and repairing the coolant temperature-gauge wiring. This XKE is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in Virginia with service records, a copy of a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a wheel removal tool, a convertible top boot, and a clean Montana title in the name of the owner’s LLC that lists the car as a 1966 model.

The car was finished in Opalescent Maroon from the factory and was most recently refinished in Pale Primrose Yellow by Muncie Imports & Classics following bead blasting of the body in 2017. The black convertible top was replaced in 2015, and the convertible top frame was rebuilt in 2016. The door handles were replaced in 2017 along with the driver’s side mirror and other chrome components, while re-plating of the chrome front and rear bumpers, headlight bezels, and taillight housings was completed in 2018. The windshield, windshield-wiper rack, power-antenna assembly, headlight wiring, and taillight gaskets were also replaced during the 2018 refurbishment.

The 15″ wire wheels wear chrome knock-off hubs and Vredestein Sport Classic tires, and a matching spare is stowed in the trunk. Invoices in the gallery below list brake and suspension components replaced in 2018, which include brake hoses, brake caliper seals, and the brake master cylinder as well as torsion bars, rear bump stops, and rear suspension mounts.

The car’s factory beige upholstery was replaced by black leather under prior ownership, and the seats were fitted with replacement foam cushions from Original Spec Jaguar Interiors in 2015, at which time the dashboard cover, door panels, and carpets were replaced. Koolmat and Dynamat insulation were installed in 2018 along with a replacement glove box. A RetroSound Laguna AM/FM radio and Amco all-weather floor mats are additional interior elements.

The three-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock. The center stack houses four auxiliary gauges including an ammeter that was rebuilt in 2018. The dashboard wiring harness was also replaced in 2018 along with the turn-signal switch, and the wiring for the coolant-temperature gauge was repaired in April 2022. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles, approximately 500 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was overhauled in 2005 with a replacement cylinder head and a crankshaft that was machined for compatibility with an updated rear main seal. Replacement pistons are said to be designed for a 9:1 compression ratio and were installed with replacement piston rings as well as rod and crank bearings. The main wiring harness for the engine was replaced in 2018, and the exhaust manifolds were ceramic-coated. A PerTronix ignition system, a Howe aluminum radiator, a CoolCat cooling fan, and a spin-on oil-filter adapter are additional equipment. The cooling-fan sensor was replaced in April 2022, and compression-test readings from May 2022 are pictured in the gallery.

Power is supplied to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. A stainless-steel exhaust system is fitted, and a 6×12″ metal patch panel was installed in front of the left floor panel and finished with undercoating in April 2022 to repair damage from improper jack placement.

Service records dating to 2015 are shown in the gallery below along with a copy of a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and an older build sheet and parts list. The seller states that service records since 2005 are included in the sale.
