Ebay item 12/1/09
new.It has been his daily driver and garaged in Riverside since then.
He parked it two years ago. He's decided to let it go since he can't drive anymore. We put a new starter and battery in it last week. It does start but won't stay running.I think it needs the carbs rebuilt. The engine sounds good and makes oil pressure. He said the engine was rebuilt about three years ago.He said the engine was replaced in 1976, the current # is 7D56255-8. The brake and clutch reservoirs were empty. The speedometer does not work. This would be a great car for a project or restore. Here are the #'s from the I.D. plate car #1E11259, engine # 7E487-9, body# 4E2626, gear box EJ3972. Look at the pics. The only rust came from the radiator. There is a hard top that need some attention. There is no convertible top. Some of the part are off, but they are included.

Car now offered at:
sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/2389705378.html
Now said to be in San Diego, California.
Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar XKE Series 1 4.2 Roadster
VIN 1E-11259
This 1966 Red E-type with black interior. It has a tan top that is fully functional, and a black hard top. It is a fully matching number car and has the desirable 4 speed synchromesh gear box.
This car has been very well looked after over the years. There is absolutely no rust on this car and it still has the original floors and sills. It is an original California car with two owner history. It has been living its life in Riverside (42yrs) and now in San Diego Ca. It is truly a beautiful car, perfect for everyday use and even better for taking out just for a stroll. Keep in mind it is not a show car, but a very good driver. With a little attention to minor details it can be one. It is still an eye-catcher and will definately turn some heads as shown.
The wire wheels are brand new Dayton's 15X6 in perfect shape they were restored recently and are sitting in brand new Pirelli P4 205/70 tires. It runs and drives great! The engine was rebuilt a few years ago the onwer told me and runs strong. I had the following rebuilt or replaced: New header tank, new cooling hoses, rebuilt water pump, new belt, new electric fan, re-cored radiator, rebuilt steering rack w/ U-joint, rebuilt master brake, new brake and clutch bottles, rebuilt master clutch, new battery and box, rebuilt all three carbs everything replaced, Jet Hot powder coating to the exhaust, new coil, plugs, wires, cap, electric ignition, 4 rear new U-joints, new fuse box, new grade 8 bolts
Body is perfect very straight. Paint is a few years old. It looks very nice but has a few chips so not perfect but decent. The interior is needs to be replaced I have a new complete carpet kit and door panels. I also have an extra engine and various other parts.
The chrome is excellent with minor work needed on the rear bumper finish.
The original spare is with the car along with the knock off hammer.
I have a clear title for it.
Those familiar with this model can appreciate it's stylish beauty and rarity. Here is a perfect opportunity to finally be the proud owner of this dream car! As a buyer your timing could not be any better!

This 1965 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on July 8, 1965 and distributed through Jaguar Cars of New York. It was sold new by Al Pernett Imported Cars in Riverside, California to its first owner, who reportedly drove it regularly for 43 years before it was acquired by the seller in 2008. A three-year restoration was completed in January 2020 and included a repaint in the factory Carmen Red as well as refreshment of the black leather interior and overhauls of the suspension, 4.2L DOHC inline-six, and four-speed manual gearbox. Modifications added during the process included a Bell stainless steel exhaust system, four-piston front brakes, an electric cooling fan, electronic ignition, a high-torque starter, and more. This Series I E-Type is now offered by the seller in South Carolina with invoices and photos from the restoration, service records beginning in 2009, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a toll roll and jack, removed factory components, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The body was disassembled during the restoration, and the monocoque tub, body panels, and front frame were stripped to bare metal and repainted in the factory shade of Carmen Red. The underbody and wheel wells were reportedly coated in Gravel Guard before application of paint, and the bumpers were re-chromed. A replacement black cloth convertible top was fitted. A six-digit black California license plate is affixed out back, and the front plate is included in the sale. The seller notes the car is currently registered in California.
Replacement 15” Dayton chrome wire wheels with two-eared knock-off spinners were added during the restoration and new Coker 185R15 redline tires were mounted. The four-wheel disc brakes were upgraded with SNG four-piston calipers up front, though the removed two-piston calipers are included in the sale. According to the seller, the front and rear independent suspension systems were both overhauled, and an adjustable torsion bar reaction plate was installed.
The interior was reupholstered in black leather and the seat frames were replaced with adjustable units to accommodate taller occupants. Dynamat sound deadening was added throughout the cabin underneath the replacement black wool carpeting. Dotted aluminum trim in the style of earlier Series I cars was added to the dash and console, and the factory black hard vinyl trim is included.
A replacement 15″ wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, both of which are said to have been rebuilt. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and now reportedly shows 51 miles. Approximately 2k miles have been added by the seller since the restoration was completed in January 2020. Dash illumination has been updated with LED bulbs.
The replacement 4.2 liter inline-six is said to have been sourced from another 1965 XKE and was installed by the previous owner. The engine was overhauled during the 2017-2020 restoration by Sam Coe Performance Machine in Santee, California using new standard pistons and top-hat sleeves that were sourced from Terry’s Jaguar, along with standard main and rod bearings. The cylinder head was reportedly rebuilt with new valves, guides, seals, springs, camshaft bearings, and bucket retainers, and the crankshaft was cleaned and polished. The triple SU carburetors were also rebuilt, and a new oil pump was added. Modifications added at this time included electronic ignition, a high-torque starter, an SNG electric cooling fan and shroud, stainless steel heater pipes, and a spin-on oil filter. Several of the removed stock parts are included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox, which was also refreshed during the restoration. A new Borg & Beck clutch, throw-out bearing, and slave cylinder were installed. Additional photos of the underbody and Bell stainless steel exhaust system are viewable in the gallery below.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate shows a build date of July 8, 1965 and lists factory colors, as well as the chassis, body, engine, and gearbox numbers.
Photos from various stages of the restoration available and included invoices are said to total over $150k. Also removed factory parts which are included in the sale.
