Sellers description:
Car Condition: Original
This matching numbers 1965 Jaguar E-type has been in a private collection since new. A doctor purchased it in England for his wife new in 1965. He then transported the vehicle to Miami and four years later in 1969 the Jaguar found its home in Southern California. It was well kept and serviced as needed by the Doctor. This is an original Jaguar that has not been molested or abused. It has the original California blue plates and comes with a Heritage Certificate of authenticity. This vehicle never had a radio installed and it still has the original factory radio blanking plate. This original vehicle would be an excellent candidate for restoring or driving as is.

Nice car, my fav. colour combo, BUT this is not totally original and unmolested, as the door panel trim and sides of the centre console have been trimmed in a dark green material, which is NOT original. Also the black leather shifter stick gaiter and small chrome trim should not be there, only the black rubber grommet. Otherwise seems very correct. Cheers!

Car now in St. Louis, Missouri, $169,500
Seller's description:
We are pleased to present this gorgeous example of Jaguar’s most iconic sports car, offered here in its most desirable Series 1 4.2-litre Open Two-Seater specification. The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate on file shows the first owner originally ordered this car as a ‘Personal Export Delivery’ meaning, they collected the car at Jaguar’s Browns Lane works, drove it in the UK for a period (with the registration number DWK 827 C) before shipping it home to the US. It rolled from the factory gates finished in Opalescent Dark Green over a Suede Green interior, equipped with the 4.2-litre engine and manual gearbox. The car’s history is not fully known; however, photos of it in 2011 show it in California still wearing its original color scheme, and while looking a bit tired, it appeared complete and drivable.
This Jaguar was subsequently treated to a photo-documented, nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration by marque specialists Classic Showcase of Oceanside, California. It was sold to a private collector in 2018 and has remained in their care through 2022. Now finished in a beautiful shade of British Racing Green, the E-Type is well-sorted and ready for driving enjoyment. The paint and bodywork are excellent, displaying consistent panel fit and a smooth glossy finish. Sparkling chrome wire wheels set off the dark green color, and the car rolls on period-style Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The interior is trimmed in beautiful dark tan leather, matching carpets, and proper factory-style vinyl on the sills and door cards. Authentic touches include the polished wood-rim steering wheel and a period-correct Blaupunkt radio.
Powered comes from a 4.2-litre XK inline-six, with both the engine block and cylinder head stampings matching factory production records. Lifting the clamshell bonnet reveals a beautifully detailed engine bay with plenty of polished alloy and authentic details and finishes. The undercarriage is authentically detailed, and while it shows signs of regular use, it is tidy and clean, with updates including a stainless steel exhaust. Records on file show the owners fastidiously maintained the car via a respected restoration shop, and it is now very well-sorted for the road.
The popularity of the E-Type is nearly universal, with great examples found in world-class collections and occupying space in the average enthusiast’s dream garage. This beautifully finished example is the ideal pick for the collector seeking a fastidiously, expertly restored E-Type to show with pride and enjoy to the fullest on rallies, tours, and weekend motoring adventures.

This 1965 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on May 14, 1965, as a US-spec personal export delivery car to be picked up by the first owner in the UK. The car later came stateside, where it was reportedly refurbished in the 2010s by Classic Showcase of Oceanside, California. Work included stripping the body, placing it on a rotisserie, and refinishing it in dark green. The interior was retrimmed in tan upholstery, and the 4.2-liter inline-six, suspension, differential, and braking system were also overhauled. The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a Bell stainless steel dual exhaust system, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM push-button radio. This XKE was acquired by the selling dealer in December 2022 and is now offered in Texas with an owner’s manual, tools, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment photos, partial service records, and a clean Missouri title.
The body was finished from the factory in Opalescent Dark Green and was mounted to a rotisserie during the 2010s refurbishment, receiving bodywork before a repaint in its current shade of green. Exterior details include a black soft top with a matching boot, recessed headlights with clear covers, split chrome-finished bumpers, a louvered forward-hinged hood, dual side mirrors, and taillights mounted above the rear bumpers. A dent was removed from the hood in 2019, and a video demonstrating imperfections in the paint can be seen.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and wear Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in October 2019. A matching spare wheel and tire are mounted under the trunk floor. The car is equipped with a fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, with the rears mounted inboard. The brake servo assembly and vacuum check valve were replaced in October 2022.
The reupholstered interior features low-back buckets seats trimmed in tan leather accompanied by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are provided for both occupants, and additional appointments include a sliding rear-view mirror, Jaguar-branded rubber floor mats, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM push-button radio linked to speakers mounted on each side of the center stack. Wear is visible on the left-side upholstery near the doorjamb.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges are housed in the center stack above a row of toggle switches for vehicle functions. The five-digit odometer shows 3,900 miles, and total mileage is unknown. The oil pressure gauge and sending unit were replaced in December 2020.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt by Classic Showcase as part of the refurbishment and is equipped with triple SU side-draft carburetors along with polished valve covers. The oil filter adapter and intake manifold gasket were replaced in 2019, while the battery is said to have been replaced in preparation for the sale.
Block stamping 7E4175-9 is listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate as the engine number.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The differential was rebuilt and a Bell stainless-steel dual exhaust system was installed during the refurbishment. Service performed in 2019 included installing a Welsh 10″ clutch lever kit, resurfacing the flywheel, and replacing the throw-out bearing.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
