This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a LHD Series I Roadster that has been off of the road since 1974. Restoration work began under the second owner in the mid-1970s and has thus far has involved chemically-dipping and sourcing a replacement bonnet, as well as rebuilding the numbers-matching 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six and 4-speed manual gearbox. The original suspension and brake systems also accompany the car. This Series 1 E-Type restoration project is now being offered with a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller's name.
After being chemically-dipped and remains finished in a primer. A replacement upper section of the bonnet was reportedly sourced and installed by the previous owner in 1975. Photos of the included unrestored brightwork, headlights, tail lamps, and side glass have been provided in the gallery below.
The assembled body tub is currently clamped to a wooden dolly with large pneumatic casters. The included independent rear suspension is shown in the gallery below, and the seller indicates that the front suspension, brake system, and a set of wire wheels are included.
The seats, steering wheel, dash, and instruments are shown above. However, the seller indicates that the door panels, carpet, and a few other items are missing from the interior. 38k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.
The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six has been rebuilt and retains a numbers-matching cylinder head and block. The included triple SU carburetors and matching intake manifold remain unrestored.
The numbers-matching 4-speed gearbox has been reconditioned by drivetrain specialist Quantum Mechanics of Oxford, Connecticut.
