This original UK delivered right hand drive Series 1 has been the property of just 4 keepers from new. Delivered to Kent in June 1963, it carries its appealing original registration number, 6YKJ. It has its original matching numbers engine, now uprated, making it a large part of what is enthralling about this E Type. The most recent diligent owner since 2007 undertook a major restoration of this car in 2008.
The restoration was undertaken professionally with parts supplied by M and C Wilkinson of Doncaster, Park Engineering of Malton, Rob Beere Racing of Coventry, Hardy Engineering of Surrey, Dawson Upholstery of Norton and Laughton Fabricators of Tadcaster. The result is impressive and it since been touring and rallying through the UK and Europe.
The Silver Grey paintwork, despite being nearly 20 years old is almost flawless. The colour contrasts with the Bordeaux leather interior and door cards, a timeless combination. The interior has been retrimmed with MX5 seats fitted, these are very comfortable, the originals are included. The switchgear is in perfect order with further upgrades to operate additional headlights, map light, fan overide, and oil temperature gauge all on their own demountable plinth; there is also a rally timer.
Mechanically the original 3.8 litre engine has been breathed on by Rob Beere racing with a fast road cam fitted and linked to a Getrag 5 speed gearbox. The original Moss 4 speed box accompanies the car. The engine has been consistently maintained with a cylinder head overhaul and fitting of a 123 distributor in 2022. Stopping is by a Coopercraft disc brake conversion. A serious E Type that given the open road will relish it!
